The Husker captain scored
382 points for an average of

tory at the University on
Feb. 22 when he scored the
1000th point of his college ca
reer against Oklahoma. He
was the first Nebraska eager
to attain this magic goal.
Albert Maxey, junior from
Indianapolis, Ind. was next
In scoring with 293 points for
a UJt average. He had 172
rebounds.
Four seniors will be lost by
graduation, Turner, Bob
Harry, Wayne Hester, and
Dick Shipwright
In team totals Nebraska col
lected 1170 rebounds to the
opponents 1191. In scoring,
Nebraska wound up with 62.7
points per game to the oppon
ents 63.2. The largest marr' i
the Huskers were beaten jy
this season was nine points.
Jim Kowalke ended the
season with a 10.5 point game
average, to follow behind
Turner and Maxey.

To NCAA Meet

Karl Byers will represent
the University of Nebraska
gymnastic team at the NCAA j
meet ai renn 5iaie, tnaay
and Saturday.
Byers, undefeated this sea
son in dual meet competition,
will be competing in the side
horse event.
He finished fifth in the
national competition in 19a9
and seventh in 1958.
He won the An College
title, the Northwest Cham
pionship and Midwest AAU
title in his event.
Byers, of Lincoln, is a
senior and co-captain of the
Husker gymnastic team. He
will be accompanied to the
meet by coach Jake Geier.

Congratulations to the recent winners of the Intramural
Basketball Tourney. Kappa Sigma won the Fraternity 'A'
Championship, Selleck copped the Burr-Selleck 'A' title and
Phi Epsilon Kappa took the Independent 'A' crown.
In B' competition, Sigma Nu won the Fraternty title tnd
Gus 1 was victorious in the Burr-senccK divi
sion. Delta Upsilon won the Fraternity 'C title.
Games in the All-University Tourney
were played last week during the State Bas
ketball Tourney held in the Coliseum. The
games, played at 5:00 p.m. preceding the
ns night games, provided entertainment tor the
'm, f I early arrivals at the tourney.
Ul 1 Kappa Sigma downed Selleck to advance
jLwJ t0 the f inals of the All-University ' A Tourney
to nr against Phi Epsilon Kappa,
onirartn Gus j defeated Sigma Nu for the All-Uni
versity 'B' title and Delta Upsilon beat Delta Tau Delta to
repeat as Fraternity and All-University 'C Champions.
Only Two Undefeated
Only two teams went through the season and tourney un
defeated. These were Kappa Sigma 'A', who still had one
more game remaining Monday night, and Delta Upsilon 'C.

The Intramural Paddle Ball Tourney began yesterday
with competition in six singles and doubles divisions.
Delta Upsilon Is the All-University title bolder from last
rear. DU was sparked by a singles crown from George Fisk
and a doubles title by Fisk -and Doug Youngdahl.
This year the DUs look tough as Youngdahl teams with
Myron Papadakis, Intramural Handball champ, in doubles
and both will be threats in singles play.

The only departments the
Jayhawker didn't lead were
the percentage of free throws
made and the total number
of fouls committed.
Turner Fifth
Herschell Turner ranked
fifth with a 399 total point
accumulation, hitting a 15.9
point per game clip. Maxey
finished eighth and Kowalke
came in number twelve.
Turner and Maxey both
made the ratings in the re
bound department. Turner
grabbed an even 200 rebounds
to finish sixth in the confer
ence. Maxey was eighth with
177.
Bridges of Kansas was the
king of the boards with 340
rebounds and a 13.6 rebound
per game average.
Hightower Rebounds
The J a y h a w k scoring
champion also scored in the
rebound department High
tower was fourth i n a line
led by his teammate,
Bridges.
The final team rankings
placed Kansas, Kansas St.,
Oklahoma. Iowa State, Colo
r a d o, Missouri, Nebraska,
and Oklahoma State in that
order. The championship was
decided by a playoff between
Kansas and Kansas State.
Kansas won 82-80 in an over
time period.

much for the Mid-Westerners.
Robertson
Named As
Year's Best
Oscar Robertson, who
plans to turn professional
after his "graduation from
Cincinnati was named by
United Press International as
college basketball's player
of-the-year.
Big 0 grabbed 78 per cent
of the votes cast in a nation
wide poll of sportswriters
and broadcasters to win the
honor for the third straight
year.
Robertson, who will ba
competing in the NCAA
championships this weekend
in San Francisco, has set his
sights for a berth on the
United State's Olympic bas
ketball team.
Robertson has decided to
enter the pro ranks after
graduation, but he has not
said which team he will play
for.
It is reported that he has
had job offers from the Cin
cinnati Royals of the National
Basketball Association and
from Abe Saperstein's Har
lem Globetrotters.
