were Herb Hanich on the fly

The win was an expensive
one for the Husker's as they
suffered the loss of their
stellar performer, Phil Hall.
As Hall was going through
his routine on the rings, he
whipped and fell to the mat.
Coach Jake Geier said that
the fall dislocated Hall's el
bow and that he would be
confined to limited work on
the trampoline for the rest
of the year.

OSU Attack
The combination of a tough
Oklahoma State defense and
sharp shooting by OSU's Ed
die Bunch, proved to be too
much for Nebraska, as the
Cowboys scored a 52-47 vic
tory over the Huskers Satur
day night.
The Oklahoma sophomore
dumped in 21 points on his
home court in Stillwater. His
total was the highest for the
season for anOklahoma State
player and also his career
high?.
From midway in the first
half, when Oklahoma State
jumped to a 17-6 lead, the
Cowboys commanded the
scoreboard throughout the
game. Nebraska chopped the
margin in the closing seconds
of the first half to a 25-22
reading, but OSU turned on
the pressure in the early min
utes of the final half to pull
away.
The Cowboys added the ic
ing to their victdry in the
late minutes when they
dropped six straight free
tosses through the nets.
Oklahoma State's defense,
one of the nations best, held
Husker Captain Herschell
Turner scoreless until the last
12 minutes of play.

Two Stadium Records Set
By Dave Calhoun
Nebraska's track team add

to its record Saturday by
dumping Oklahoma State 66

was tied and two stadium
records were established dur
ing the afternoon's activity.
At the end of eight events
the Huskers held a 39-33 lead,
but a shutout by Nebraska's
Milt Haedt, Steve Smith and
Bill Fasano in the high hur
dles iced the meet for the
Huskers.
For the second week coach
Frank Sevigne did not enter
a mile relay team. In Satur
day's contest two Cowboy
teams ran against each other.
Two Oklahoma Staters stole
the spotlight, as they estab

Aubrey Dooley, a 15 foot

cleared 14 feet seven and one

Drop Two Meets
Nebraska wrestlers dropped
two meets during the week
end. The Husker grapplers
were stopped by the Air Force

ker Jim Faimon, graduate of
Nebraska School for the
Blind, pinned Jim Fey of the
Academy.
Faimon is the second Hus
ker to win a match this sea
son.
In Saturday's outing, Ne
braska was plagued by weight
forfeits, having to default
three matches to South Da
kota for failing to meet weight
requirements in the 157 pound,
167 pound, and 177 pound

Faber Jenkins, Nebraska's

First Conference Loss
Last weekend's Big' Eight
activity featured several up
sets, the most notable being
Colorado's win over previ
ously, undefeated Kansas
State. Colorado downed the
Wildcats 65-50, Saturday at
Boulder.
After trailing 28-31 at the
half, the Buffaloes scored 37
points while limiting K-itate
to 19 to knock off the de
fending champs.
Kansas' victory over lowa
State was sparked by Wayne
Hightower's 32 points. The
Jayhawks are now tied with
Oklahoma and Iowa State for
fourth. All three have a .500
won-lost percentage.
The KU victory enabled Ok
lahoma State to move into
third place in the standings
sporting a 4-3 mark.

Other meet records were
set by Al Wellman in the
shotput and Tom Harlan of
Oklahoma State in the 440
yard run.
Haedt's time of :7.7 in the
high hurdles tied the meet
record.
Wellman continued his rec
ord breaking performances,
registering a toss of 50 feet
1 and one half inches. Last
week Wellman set a Drake
So. Dak. triangular meet rec
ord with a toss of 51-2.
The 440 proved to be an
other crowd pleaser, as
Tom Harlan nipped Nebras
ka's Bob Cross at the tape.
Harlan turned in a time of
:50.7 for his meet record.
The Huskers added another
sprint man to their crew.
High hurdler Steve Smith a
South Dakota transfer stu
dent from Lexington, made
his first appearance of the
year, placing second, a step
behind team mate Milt
Haedt.
OSU demonstrated its pow
er in the 2 mile event, when
Miles Eisenman breezed his
way to victory. Eisenman is
the conference record holder
for this event.
In both the long distance
vault of 14-7
Nebraska at Oklahoma and
Oklahoma State at Colorado.
The Huskejs will be after
their second league conquest
and the OSU-Colorado battle
shapes up to be the decider
for possession of second
place.
