Lake, managing director of the Union. The Student Union and the Administration building now share the same branch from the University power plant for air conditioning. "We will have our own unit by next fall," Lake said. When the new Union is com p 1 e t e d, the Administration building will take over the presently shared power line for private air conditioning. The expanding Student Un ion grew into a former park ing lot that had a capacity of 300 cars. Lake said. When the Union is finished "78 cars can park on the lot," he stated. Plant for expansion started ! about two years ago. Lake I said. The "philosophy for ex ponsiou was to improve our design so we could be of more service," he said. Included in the features of the new Student Union w ill be a small auditorium, a com muter's lunch area, a barber shop, a fountain lounge to re place the "Crib," three music rooms, two party rooms ("for hour dances," Lake said I, ten bowling alleys and 12 billiard tables. She will work with nine and ten year-old youngsters dur ing the summer session at Bancroft School. University students attending classes this summer will be able to ob serve her teaching methods as part of their regular ele mentary education training. Mrs. Schwarz was chosen to receive the Teacher of the Year award by the U.S. Of fice of Education and MeCall's magazine who for the past six years have co-sponsored the special project. The award is made as an annual tribute to the teaching profession. Bridge Lessons Are Cost Free Goren's disciples as well as those who have never sat in on a foursome will have a chance to get professional in struction in bridge this sum mer. Jim Porter, one of the out standing players in Lincoln, will teach beginners each Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. beginning June 17. Advanced lessons will be offered at 5 p.m. j Lessons will be held in the 315 Union. Any summer ses- j sion students or staff mem-, bers may take these lessons, i which are free of charge. A Bridge Tournament will climax the lessons and troph ies will be awarded to the winners, according to Bob Handy, Union . Activities di rector. Heat Beaters Total Seven To keep "real cool" this summer, the summer stu dent's best bet would be to take advantage of University air conditioning or to go swimming. Six, and possibly seven. University buildings will be air conditioned this summer, according to Al Alt, foreman of the University Job Pool. These include: the new Ad ministration building, Social Science and Burnett Halls, Love Library, the Student Union and Student Health.
