Be sides sponsoring light entertain ment such as dances and ping pong tournaments, the Union also has cultural activities like concerts and foreign film series. Some of the facilities available at the Union are are ping pong, checkers, chess games, a large TV set, a fountain and a snack bar, juke box, cafeteria, a study room, a lounge to meet and chat with your friends, a picture lending service, a summer job file, ex hibits and displays of interest to everyone, a music room, complete with phonograph and records for any student's use, and meeting rooms for student organizations. A weekly feature of the Union is the Sunday Night movie. Top motion pictures are brought free of Ag Students Gather In Dell Probably the most frequented place in the Ag Union is the Dell. Here students gather for not just chit chat but cokes and hamburg ers as well. The Ag Union lounge is another gathering spot where Ag students find a pleasant at mosphere to relax in easy chairs. Another feature of the Ag Union are the Sunday night movies. Every Sunday a free motion pic ture is shown. The Ag Sno-Ball Formal and the Starlight Terrace Ball are but two highlights on the Ag Union calen dar for the year. The Ag Union, located in the Ag College Activities Building, is the social hub of the Ag campus. It is the gathering place for all Ag students for re laxation, snacks, and many Union sponsored events. Every Sunday night the Ag Union sponsors "Pot" Luck with the Prof" dinners. This is a joint project of the students and faculty. The purpose is to better acquaint students and faculty by bringing them together in a highly informal fashion. - The voice of the Ag campus is the Ag Rag. Both edited and writ ten separately from the Daliy Ne braskan, it features articles of Ag interest only. It spotlights both people and events on the Ag campus. Usually the juke box or Program Service provides the mu sic. In addition throughout the year special dances like the Frosh Hop during New Student Week and the Pink Elephant Dance are held throughout the year. The foreign film series is a spe cial event for the Union that is being enjoyed by more students each year. For a special price the students are able to see about sev en documentary and foreign films. The films include German, Italian, French, English, and Spanish films. For many students it is their first contact with the better class of foreign movies. During the year there are also such events as concerts, Xhe Spring and Fall Talent Shows, Pigskin Parties, bridge and dance lessons, seminars, forums, book reviews, and chess and bridge tournaments. The Christmas season is wel comed at the Union by the annual Christmas Party. For the party the Union is decorated with greens and Christmas ornaments. Evening deception The Student Union Open House and Chancellor's Reception during New Student Week will prove the statement "All Paths Leadto the Union" to be true. The gala event, beginning at 8 p.m., is on Friday, September " 13, in the Student Union. A full -evening has been planned to introduce new students to the facilities offered by the Student Union. In the Main Lounge of the Union, students will meet Chancellor and Mrs. Hardin and other top Uni versity officials. Each college will be represented by its dean who will be happy to chat with in coming students. The Mortar Boards and Innocents Society will act as hosts and hostesses in the Lounge. Coeds Decorate Carnival Booths Penny Carnival, is an annual fall event sponsored by Coed Counsel ors. All sorority pledge classes and organized houses try out for this event. Out of these, 15 are selected to participate in the carnival. Each group has its own booth and may not spend more than $10.00 for decorations and equip ment. First, second and third 'places are awarded to the booths on the basis of originality, participation and audience appeal. Different games are played at the booths, such as throwing darts, bean bags and rings, which calls for. audience participation. The Delta Gamma's were the winners of the 1956 Penny Carnival. Their theme was ''Hit the Head lines." The game for their booth was throwing folded newspapers into holes on a newspaper back board.
