New Staff
Members

Three new staff members with
the rank of associate professor
were appointed Friday afternoon
by the University Board of Re
gents. They are:
Dr. Loyal Payne, who has been
a faculty member at Iowa State
College since 1942. A physiologist,
he will be a member of the ani
mal pathology department, replac
ing Dr. Carl Olson, Jr., who is
now at the University of Wisconsin.
Dr. Robert Cole, who will teach
business organization and manage
ment. He has been assistant pro
fessor of marketing at University
of Illinois since 1952.
Mrs. Janette Sayre, who will be
a member of the department of
physical education for women. She
received her Doctor of Philosophy
degree from University of Indiana
this year.
Other appointments, all with
rank, of assistant professors, in
clude: Dr. Robert Finley, agricultural
economics, was instructor at Uni
versity of Illinois.
Ronald Taven, horticulture and
assistant horticulturist, was teach
ing and research assistant at Uni
versity of Minnesota.
Dr. Keith Aldrich, the Classics,
was Charles Atwood Kofoid Fel
low in Classics from 1955-57 at the
University of California.
Dr. Peter Coleman, history, stud
ied at Harvard University this past
year on a social science research
grant.
Jack Cross an, piano, was instruc
tor of piano at University of Red
lands, Calif.
Audun Ravnan, brass instru
ments, received his Master of

according to Dr. Hoover.

quired for summer commence
ment. The audience may sit any
where in the Mall except in the
space reserved for the graduat
ing class, Dr. Hoover said.
Candidates for Teaching Certifi
cates must file a health blank and
a money order for $2 with the
Registrar's Office by Saturday. The
money order should be made pay
able to F. D. Decker, State Com
missioner of Education.
In event of rain, the exercises
will take place in the Coliseum.
Coffee Hour
The weekly Graduate-Faculty
Coffee Hour will be held Friday
at 10 a.m. in the Faculty Lojnge
in the Union.
