Good Optomistic as First Week of Basketball Ends Coach Harry Good announced that the varsity basketball team is rounding into good shape after the first week of practice. The team now consists of 27 men, who will be divided into the varsity and "B" teams in the next few weeks. The varsity squad will consist of 14 men after the separation process. Coach Good says the team is Moving along well on fundamen tals. They have been working on team offense with no opposition. The condition of the players is such that full scale scrimmage will start soon. Dog-Eat-Dog; Good believes that the Big 7 race will be a dog-eat-dog affair all winter because of the excel lent crop of freshmen hoopsters 1 coming up in all the coniercnce schools. All schools of the loop will have more sizeable teams than last year. There are seven soph mores on the roster now and they all show favorable promise of producing some top-flight basketball this vear. Buck Buchanan, Andy Bunten, J. Fulford, A. Blessing, G. Walton and N. Wilnes are the Soph aspirants. Some old standbys that have been workhorses in the past and . are beginning to round into top ( form are Dick Srb. Joe Malecek, j Hank Cech, Bus Whitehead, Bob ! Pierce, Joe Brown, and Tony Lowry. Frosh Drills Frosh coach Tony Sharp has been drilling some 70 freshmen hopefuls -since October 17. He ex w.tc tn Viavf in to 15 more report aftcr the close of freshmen foot- ball. Freshmen football coach Ike Hanscom will take over ,-B" team basketball at the end of the grid iron season. Director of high school inter scholastic athletics Lee Webb will give a talk on the interpre tation of the rules. He will ex plain all of the new rules of the '49-'50 season. Union Plans Intercollegiate Table Tennis Here is a chance for all you table tennis fans to engage in ac tual team competition with other Student Unions of colleges in the surrounding area. To become eligible, you must compete in the table tennis tour nament under co-sponsorship of the Intramural Department and i the Student Union competitive games committee. Competition I will begin on Nov. 1. All entries are due by 5:00 p. m. 'Friday, Oct. 28, in room 102 of j the Thysical Education building.
