Nine first team Nebraska All Staters, chosen from the three major selections of last fall, are working out daily under Han scom and his aides. A total of 18 different players were picked for first string hon ors. Three boys from this group were high school juniors in 1948. One six-man first string All Stater has joined the ranks at Nebraska. Dean Brittenham, six man star at Brady, is bypassing football to .ry his hand at bas ketball and track. Two Six-Man Players. George Prochaska of Ulysses and Keith Mumby of Harrison are two other six-man players on the frosh squad. Grand Island's all-victorious state champions gave four All- Ted Connor, Hastings back, and Staters to the Huskers. They are Bobby Reynolds and Bob Hann, backs, Larry Carney, end, and Duane Hueneke, tackle. Since 1871 Clctus Fischer In Exhibition Tilt Wednesday Cletus Fischer, sparkplug of Husker football teams from 1945 to 1948 was in Omaha Wednes day night. A member of the New York Giant professional team, Fis-j or was on hand when the Giarts met the Los Angeles Rams in Omaha's Memorial stadium. Clete will be remember by Ne braska fans as the plucky little halfback that brightened many a dreary Saturday during the war years in Memorial stadium at Lin coln. As a freshman under Potsy Clark in 1945, Fischer won hon orable mention Big Six honors. Plagued by injuries "lis junior and senior years, Clete snw limited duty. He shook off his in juries in the '47 game with U. C. L. A. and turned in one of the most outstanding defensive peiformances of the year. Cletus won All-State honors in six-man football while in high school at St. Edward. Before corn ing to the University he coached the St. Ed. team one season. Clete's brother. Kenny, a mem ber of Coach Bill Glassford's H'9 Cornhusker team and a teammr.te of Cletus last year, was a mem ber of the St. Ed. team coached by the pro player. Clete has four younger brothers who hope to keep the Fischer tradition alive at N. U.
