Softball Games
The Student Union softballers
kept pace with the league lead
ing Lilies Friday by taking their
third straight victory, a 13-3 rout
of Dormitory B. Behind the nifty
pitching of John Sheedy and Ed
die Miyahara, the Student Union
sluggers banged out 14 hits. The
Dorm B boys managed only five
safe hits off the Union chuckers.
Intervarsity recovered from
their Presby game enough to edge
the Baptists by a 5-2 score. In
tel varsity still leads the Denomi
national league with a 3-0 record.
GEOLOGY TOOK OVER un
disputed first place of League IX
with a 9-1 win over previously
undefeated Chem E. Geology now
has a record of four wins and no
defeats.
Alpha Kappa Psi regained their
winning ways with a 17-3 romp
over Dormitory C. The Bizad boys
now sport a 3-1 record, good
enough for third in League VI.
The Tridents handed Norris
House a 16-15 setback in eight
innings. The Navy boys tied up
the game at 12 all in the fifth
and went ahead 15-12 in the
sixth, but Norris House surged
back to tie at 15-15. A home run
with nobody down in the last of
the eighth produced the winning
run.

CYO CAME BACK after their
defeat last week to .hand the Uni
versity YMCA its third straight
setback by a 10-6 score, while the
ARO's were eliminating the Ex
tra Light Brigade by a lopsided
16-4 score.
Dormitory A-2 won the "battle
of Dorm A" by edging Dormitory
A-l with a narrow margin of

Ag Delegates
Meet in Lincoln
The Northern Great Plains
Agricultural council held its con
ference in Lincoln Friday and
Saturday. Ten Ag colleges of the
Great Plains are represented in
the council.
Discussions Friday centered
around the problems of water
utilization in this area, particu
larly as affected by the Missouri
river development. Saturday's
9-7, and the Wheels cracked down
on Kate's Boys, 13-4.
Two forfeits were in the results
of Friday's games. Presby Student
House received one from the Lu
theran Student House and the
Pill Rollers got one from the Me
chanical Engineers.
meetings will include a discussion
of broad-scale programs for con
trol of grasshoppers and other
insects.

Brookings, S. D., chairman of the
council, stressed the need for con
tinued cooperation between rep
resentatives of the ten Ag col
leges and other governmental
agencies in the Missouri River
development project in aiding
the development of several small
irrigation projects in the north
ern Great Plains area.
H. G. Gould, associate director
of the University agricultural ex
tension service, stressed the need
for an accelerated program of
education to acquaint the 500,000
farmers with the best soil con
servation practices suited to their
farms.
"Unless the farmers can be
reached and they can acquaint
themselves with their part of the
program, the outcome of the en
tire effort is indeed in jeopardy,"
Gould said.
There will be a meeting of
all horseshoe managers Mon
day, May 9, at 12:30 p. m. in
Room 101 of the Physical Ed
ucation building. All managers
are urged to attend so that
the playoff schedule may be
arranged.
