Husker Nine To Enlerlain Sooner Team Coach Tony Sharpe's Corn huskcr basoballers fate a crucial test this weekend as they play host to the Oklahoma Sooncrs in a two-game series. The Sooners are currently leading the league with five wins and two losses. The Huskers have split every scries this year after dropping a single contest to the Sooners down at Norman. Nebraska was load ing in the second game when it was called because of bad weather. WITH EIGHT games remain ing on the docket the Huskers must sweep the Sooner series to stay in the running for the league title. Nebraska will have a slight advantage in that six of its re maining games are at home. Pitching chores will probably be handled by veterans Jim Sand stedt and Elroy "Lefty" Gloy stein. Gloystcin has been slow in rounding into form but is ex pected to be ready, after his show ing over at Ames last week. Game time for both sessions will be at 3 p. m. The Saturday game has been moved back from the regular 2 p. m. time because of the Ivy Day ceremonies which will be taking place. I-Varsity Team Rallies in Sixth To Tie Prcsbys The Presby Student House mo mentarily stopped the high-flying Intervarsity softballers Tuesday night by holding them to a 2-2 tie in seven innings. The game was called after one extra inning on account of darkness. Norm Holmberg, star Intervar sity pitcher, continued his fine pitching and saved his owp game by driving in the tying run with two down in the sixth. All told, Holmberg allowed only four hits and struck out ten. However, the league leaders managed only three hits off the efforts of Presby chucker, Raleigh Barker, and got their two runs through four Presby errors. The game will be replayed later this week. The Newman Club climbed into second place in the Denomina tional League with a 10-0 shutout over the last place Christians. The Catholics now have a 3-1 record. The Methodists replaced the Baptists in third place in tne same league with a ll-l rout. Lockman pitched four-hit ball for the Methodists and allowed the only run on a home-run. The Lilies kept their record perfect with a 17-3 romp of Dorm A-l, and the V-5's kept only a step behind by walloping Kate's Boys by a 28-8 score. In the same league the Student Union regained their winning ways with a 7-1 win over Dorm C. The Ag Men's Club ran ur the season's hibhest total to date with a 34-2 massacre of the University YMCA, and Ag College enjoyed a perfect day as the Ag YMCA won over the Tridents, 9-5. Geology obtained another vic tory on forfeit from Architecutre, while the Norris House boys were hard pressed to get a win from CYO, 5-3. Dorm B romped over Dorm A-2, 15-4, and ARC squeezed by the Mustangs, 6-5. The Wheels rounded out the day with a 25-2 walk-a-way from the Extra Light Brigade. Cancels Swimming Course The intramural department an nounced Monday that the second half of the current Life Saving and Water Safety course being held in the Coliseum pool has been cancelled. Hollie Lepley, swimming coach, is in the hospital with an appendectomy and will not be able to give he rest of the course. All students wishing to take the the Water Safety course may sign up for the Red Cross course, which will be given later in the month Ratlin Wins Ping-Pong Cup Bob Radin walked away with the Ag. Campus ping-pong cham pionship by dumping Jack Pickel three straigth in the final round of the anmal spring tussle. Radin, who is a pledge of Farm Hause fraternity, is also out for varsity tennif at the Lincoln YTwiC.A., under the direction of Marv Hersey, regional director. The Life Saving part of the course will end this week. Tests are slated to be given Thursday and Friday. BOB GROGAN, veteran Husker shortstop will lead his mates this weekend as the NU bascballers attempt to belter their league stand ing at the expense of the front-running Oklahoma Sooners in a double series. Mizzou To Invade Lincoln Saturday For Track Test Nebraska and Missouri track teams will add to Saturday's Ivy Day festivities what will prob ably be a "sneak prevue" of the coming Big Seven Champion ships. A dual meet between the two schools, cofavorites for the crown, is scheduled the first track event to start at 1:30. In indoor competi tion Mizzou took a dual victory at Columbia, but the Huskers bounced back to take an upset win in the loop meet at Kansas City. Both crews are going to be crippled by the loss of star per formers. Nebraska will be with out the services of Dick Hutton, a member of the Husker's flashy Forfeits Feature Shoe Competition Thp ATO's keDt in the running in Intramural Horseshoes Tuesday with an 8-1 win over Kappa Sigma while the Phi Gams failed to annear atrainst the Dorm A pitchers. Hutton hns been both ered for several weeks by a stom ach disorder, and Weir has de cided to play safe and save him for the conference meet. The Tiger's sensational sopho more distance man, Dick McGuire, is sidelined with an ankle sprain. A definite threat to the confer ence mile mark, McGuire was ex pected to sweep both the mile and two-mile in Saturday's meet. Also lost to the Tigers will be Jim Howard, an indoor conference point-winner in the high jump. No replacement for Hutton in the century has been named, but Coach Weir plans to let Hurlburt run with Harry Meginnis and Al Thompson in the 20. Llurlburt will also run the quarter, along with Don Vollcrtson, Bill Hein and Fritz Ware. Few marks appear to be in dan ger. The pole vault standard of 13-6 Vi may be lowered if Leon ard Kehl, hampered by injuries of late, can round back into his in fnrm MrGuire's loss vir tually eliminates the possibility of new marks in the mne ana iwo mile.
