Nebraska buried the Cyclones under a 16-hit barrage to take the Monday game 10-3, but drop ped the Tuesday encounter 3-2. The split left the NU loop record at three wins and four losses. Bob Cerv led the attack on two Cyclone pitchers Monday with a triple and two singles in five trips -to the plate. The game was close until the sixth inning. Leading 3-0 entering the sixth, Nebraska ex ploded for four runs to boost their margin to seven runs. SUCCESSIVE three-baggers by Cerv and Hobe Hayes drove in three runs and sent Cyclone pit cher Hogue to the showers. Cerv's drive sent Del Blatchford and Fritz Hegwood across the plate, with Cerv scoring on Hays' hit. The Husker s scored single runs in the first, fourth, fifth, and each of the last three innings. Five Scarlet batsmen garnered two or more hits. Besides Cerv, Grogan got three for five; Gloystein two for four, one a double; Hayes two for four; and Novak two for five. Novak hit the day's only home run in the fourth inning with the sacks empty. Elroy Gloystein was on the mound for the Huskers. He scat tered five Iowa State hits to gain the win. Further example of the Nebraska supremacy is shown by the fact that they left 10 runners stranded compared to four for the Cyclones. IOWA State scored a run in the last half of the ninth in taking their 3-2 win in the second game, The game was a pitching duel be tween Nebraska's Jim Sandstedt and Cyclone Burgess. The Hus' kers were held to five hits, and shut out until the ninth inning. Trailing the Iowans 2-0, as a result of single runs in the first and fifth innings, Nebraska came to life in the top half of the final inning to knot the count. I Husker Golfers Defeat Kansas State 14 12-3 Vz Cornhusker golfers notched win number two Tuesday after noon as they dropped the visiting Wildcats from Kansas State, 14 to 3 ',2 on the Hillcrest Country club course. Don Spomer of Nebraska picked up scoring honors for the day as he came in with a par 72 to beat Mike Myers of Kansas State, 3 to 0. Defending champs Alpha Tau Omega kept their record clean with a 9-2 victory over Cornhusker Co-op. Kappa Sigma also maintained their perfect record with a tight 4-2 squeeze over the Tekes. Beta Sigma Psi defeated the Phi Delts but then forfeited the game for using an ineligible player. Delta Sigma Phi beat Delta Sigma Pi in the battle of the Delta Sigs by a 6-0 score and Sigma Phi Epsilon bounced back with a 13-10 decision over the Delts. The Baptist Student House took over the Interdenominational lead with a 16-13 victory over the Lutherans. The Baptists now have a 2-0 record. Intervarsity climbed to a lie for second in that league with a 5-0 shut-out over the Newman Club.
