First home match for the squad will be against Colorado April 23. Plavoffs Near In Badminton, Water BB Forfeits featured Monday's wa tci basketball competition as three learns failed to show up. The Sig Chis won a forfeit from the Delta Sigs, the Muscle Men took a for feit from Lilies and Dorm C won by default from Dorm A. Two games were played in wa terbaskctball, however, with the Thi Gams blanking Theta Xi bv 7 to 0 and Hie Sig Alphs topping the Betas by 8 to 5. Six teams will qualify for the playoffs. Three teams have already made the grade. The AGRs won then league, with the SAEs second and the ATOs have annexed their league. In badminton, two games were played as the badminton tourney went into its last two days. The Phi Tsis topped the Betas, 6 to 3, and the Presbyterians dropped the Newman Club by 8 to 4. EIGHT TEAMS will go into the playoffs in the badminton compe tition. All but two of the posi tions are filled. In the first game, the Phi Delts, winner of league 1, will meet the AGRs, second in league 2, Monday at 5 p. m. At the same time, the Sigma Nus, second in league 4, will tangle with the winner of league 3. At 7 p. m. on Monday the Sig Chis, winner in league 2, will go against the second place winner in league 3 and the ATOs, winner of league 4, will meet the DUs, second in league 1. Players are asked to keep check 4 i Golfers Qualify For OklahomaTrip A four-man golf team was ni.med for the week-cnd trip to Oklahoma by Coach John Bent ley. The team will leave Wednes day on the trip on which they will meet Oklahoma at Norman and Oklahoma A. & M. at Still wider. Veteran Del Ryder paced the two-day, 36-hole qualifying rounds with a 149, seven strokes better than his nearest rivals, Vein Strauch and Don Stroh. Fourth member of the squad will be Don Spomer, a topflight high school golfpr at Lincoln High who posted a 157. Other low scores in the quali fying play include: Steve Flans burg, 158; Jim Rich, 159; Gordon Strom, 162; Paul Hvland and Don Dutton, each with 163. Radio to Feature 'Like Sisters9 An original radio plav, "Like Sisters," by Milbert Guumert, will be featured on Playwright's Matinee Wednesday over KOLN at 4:15. The plot revolves' Ground a fur coat which a greedy woman seeks to wrench away from the grief stricken father of a dead girl. Playwright's Matinee originates in the University studios, and is an all-student production. with the bulletin board in the P. E. building for the time and place of the semi-final and final matches. K MMrfMM A NU Gridders Hold Session On Defense Coach Bill Glassford continued his stress on defense Tuesday aft ernoon as he sent his Husker foot ballers through another two-hour session of fundamentals and de fensive work. The workout started with a ses sion on fundamentals with the coaches taking the different po sitions and running them through their paces. Sam Vacanti had three backfields working on ball handling and starting. Defense came in for a good working over as the linemen were worked individually against full teams to brush up- on their de fensive play. This week is the first that Coach Glassford has worked on dWense and he plans to continue it for a few weeks. Two groups were formed from the varsity and sent into a scrim mage. One group went on offense against the blue shirts while the other unit went through a stiff scrimmage on defense against the single wing formation. The final part of the workout was put in on punt returns and working the ends on getting down the field. Coach Glassford has scheduled a big scrimmage for Saturday at 2 p. m. on the freshman field. Part of the squad will be put on de fense and part on offense. All certified Red Cross wa ter safety instructors are asked by Bob Phelps, Daily Nebraskan Sports Editor, to re port to the Nebraskan office sometime this week. The meet ing: will be concerned with the water safety class which starts Monday. L Club G radii ales To Hold Reunion All students who were members of the Lincoln High School L Club are invited to attend a reunion banquet Wednesday, April 20, 1949 in the Union Ballroom. The time is 7 p. m. Tickets may be obtained from any present mem ber of the L Club or by writing to Ralph W. Beechner, Lincoln High School or by calling the Ath letic office at Lincoln High School. The price per plute is $1.50. Former coaches of Lincoln High School will be honored guests and players will be seated at the din ner tables according to the years which they played. All-Stale Alhleles To Enroll al NU Two Nebraska All-State foot ball selections have revealed plana to enroll at the University of Ne braska next fall. Bobby Reynolds, Grand Island's All-State performer in football and basketball, said definitely this week that he would attend NU. next year. Reynolds sparked the Islanders to their second consecu tive state championship in foot ball and was the main factor in Coach Aub Givens' successful bas ketball team. Bobby led the Third City cagers to the semifinals of the state basketball tournament where they lost a close game to the champion Lincoln Northeast Rockets. Ted Connor, 220-pound All State fullback from Hastings, dis closed Tuesday that he had pretty well made up his mind to attend Nebraska this fall. Connor was center on Hastings' basketball team which was runner-up to Northeast in the state tourney.
