Tuesday, March I, 1949 NU Quintet Plays Vital Game Tonite Nebraska cagers will attempt to cinch at least a share of the conference championship tonite when they invade the lair of the Kansas State Wildcats. A win at Manhattan tonite would give the Huskers a 9-1 rec ord compared with Oklahoma's 6-3 mark. The Sooners would then have to win their three re maining games and Nebraska lose their last two, to split the title. Kansas State should give the Huskers one of their toughest bat tles of the season. The Scarlet five won at Lincoln by a wide, 70-38, margin, but the Wildcats have been running over all op position the past few weeks. This is attributable mainly to the addition of Clarence Brannum to the lineup. The veteran Bran num has been teaming with Rick Harmon, another holdover from last year's champs, in controling the offensive and defensive boards in all of the Wildcat's games since he joined the squad. Last week Coach Gardner's team romped past their top rivals, Kansas U. 62-36.
