They have won eight ot 11 close games this season. Early in the year Oklahoma overcame a 14-point margin with a terrific rally to tie the score and then beat )he Big Niners by nine points in the overtime. Ohio State since then has turned back Se. Louis' po tent team, CO-54. Another comeback was staged by the Sooners when they trailed Iowa State seven points with nine minutes to go. They went on to tie the score and win 55-52 in the overtime. THE SOONERS also nipped Kansas 38-30, stopped Missouri 44-40. and won the finals of the Kansas City tourney from Kan sas 53-49. They nudged Iowa State 43-42 and two nights later came from behind to edge Colo rado 43-40. Not all of the Sooners' close tilts were victories. They lost to Kansas State 45-47, to C.C.N. Y 53-55 at Madison Square Car den and to Texas at Austin. In this game Oklahoma staged a fierce comeback only to lose by one point in the last 45 seconds of play After winning all their games at home by close margins the Sooners are expecting trouble on their road trip where they play four of their five remaining conference games. A RUGGED SHOWDOWN is promised when the Sooners travel to Manhattan for a battle with Kansas State. The Aggies won the first encounter at Nor man. From Manhattan the Soon ers head north for games with Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas before returning horn for the I season's finale with Colorado. NU Wrestlers Travel to Iowa For Two M eels Ily Bill Mundcll The University of Nebraska wrestling team, fresh from its victory over Oklahoma last Sat urday, will tangle with two wrestling powers this week-end. The schedule calls for a road trip in which the Iluskers tangle with Iowa Slate Teachers on Friday ni'ht and Cornell College of Iowa on Saturday. Thn Iowa Teachers finished in third place, nationally, last year and have an impressive record this year including a 15-9 victory over Michigan Stale, last year's I second place learn. ' Cornell College, 1910 National i Champion and always a strong contender for national honors, has ' one of its better teams this year. Pacing the Iowa State squad is fiery little Bob Peterson, 5'8 guard. Peterson ranks fifth among con ference scorers with a total of 85 points in eight games. Don Fer- New Line Coach Here Next Week Newly chosen Line Coach Jim DeAngelis is expected in Lincoln early next week ,the football of fice disclosed today. The unfilled coaching positions of end coach and backfield coach are expected withi nthe near future. A tough team to beat on their home floor, the Cyclones may prove to be a big obstacle in the Iluskers' path to the Big 'Seven title. Spring Football Slated March 7 William (Biff) Glassford hopes to get spring football practice rolling on March 7, John Bentley, Nebraska publicity director, an nounced today. All candidates are asked to "tune up" from Feb. 21 to March 7 on the indoor track for the six week March drills. Empha sis on running, wind sprints, and calisthentics is prescribed for the early 'own your own workouts" in February and early March. A list of all men asked out for the spring session will be published at a later date. All who are not included in this list will be asked out under coached supervision following the six week spring drills.
