I I Wednesday; November 24, Menu's P Laundry So you want to lie in the Men's Dorm! Well, no one can blame you. A brief excursion through any one of the three Men's Dormitories on the cam pus is sufficient to make any man jealous of the 270 Dormitory resi dents. Much of the success of the Dormitories is due to John E. Speas, the ambitious new direc tor of the Men's Residence Halls. Speas is a recent graduate of Colorado A and M. He comes to Nebraska as a well qualified ad ministrator, being a sociology major, and having served as president of the Student Council at Colorado A and M last year. Although he is serving as full time director of the Dormitories, Speas hopes to take up graduate work on a part-time basis next semester. Have Efficient Management Under the direction of Speas, the Dormitories have developed a most efficient system of self-management. Each of the three Resi dence Halls has a governing unit consisting of a president, secre tary, social chairman and athletic chairman. A council, composed of two men, presides over these three bodies combining them into one functioning unit. These two men are: President Norman Zahn, Bizad junior; and Secretary- YOQE1, ItlEDO. These men see to it that their Dormitories are represented not only in intramural sports, but in inter-dormitory sports as well. No Dormitory man is lacking for want of an athletic outlet. Social Trogram Developed The social program is as well developed as the athletic pro gram. Similar to other organized houses the Men's Dorms hold hour dances with sororities and exchange dances with the Wom en's Residence Halls. Future events are on the agenda. Outstanding are the conditions within the Dormitories. Maid service for the rooms is a per manent feature as far as the men are concerned. Other advantages are: lounges within the dormitor ies, air-conditioned sleeping dorms where sleeping in dorms is neces sary, daily laundry service, etc. All of this, and more too, the men have for only $55 per semester in Dorm A, and $75 per semester in Dorms B and C, where the men have individual sleeping quarters. Future Plans Told Future plans are being made for more &nd better Dormitories. Eventually there will be ten dormitories with their own cen tral eating unit and complete self management and administration. These buildings will cover an area of two square blocks in the shape of a huge quadrangle. At present plans are being made to improve the present Dormitor ies.
