PAGE 4 THE DAILY NEBRASKAN Thursday, November 4, 1948 Light Comedy to Headline 3 One-Act Plays Tonight At 7:15 this evening, the uni versity Experimental Theatre players will present a program oi three one-act productions in Room 201 of the Temple. Ad mission is free. An interesting item about Ex perimental Theatre shows is the extensive use of students in all phases of production. Tonight, students will handle everything from direction to lighting. Katz Directs Abe Katz, who also directed Jean Paul Sartre"s "No Exit," commented on why the plays were considered "experimental. "No Exit," stated Katz, "is the first Sartre play to be produced on university stages. It has been acclaimed ideal for experimental theatre work because of its in tricacy, through lighting, staging and musical background, and its challenging demands for special character roles. "No Exit" offers 8 stirring, tense, mental concep tion of hell." The cast includes Gay Marr, D. Ann Richardson. Gladys Jackson, and Jack MacDonald. Katz then compared "No Exit" Missionary Gives Leclure on China Frank Harris, graduate of the University of London and mis sionary to China during the last seven years, spoke to the Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship Wednesday at 7:30 p. m. in Room 313 of the Union. His topic concerned Chinese customs as they illuminate the Bible. Traveling under the auspices of the North American I.V.C.F., Har ris has taught at the University of Szchechwan, China's largest university, for the last three years. He arrived in the United States in August and will leave for Lon don Dec. 1. Vesper Group To Hear Ferrell Talk Thursday Vesper Services will be held Thursday at 5 p. m. in the Uni versity Episcopal church. Miss Lexie M. Ferrell will be the speaker. Assisting Miss Ferrell will be student leader Gwen McCormic. Several noted speakers have been scheduled lor the services in the future. On Nov. 18, Dwight Dell, director of the Ne braska Goodwill train and direc tor of the Nebraska CROP, will speak on "The Bread of Life." Rev. Carroll H. Lemon, execu tive secretary of the Nebraska Council of Churches, will talk Dec. 2 on "Coming Our Way." This will be the first of a series of talks on Christmas. "The Way of the IYince of Tcuee." will be the topic of Wil lard Gaeddert on Dec. 9. Vespers will observe Christ mas on Dec. 16 with the read ing of the Christmas story by Marguerite Nootz and Stanley Copley, and with the singing of Christmas carols. to James M. Barrie's "The Twelve Pound Look," directed by Mar garet Dutton. "The Twelve Pound Look," said Katz, "is almost exactly op posite in mood. It is a comedy in a light vein. Cast Announced The cast of "The Twelve Pound Look" includes Tom Stimfig. Sharon Fritzler, Dean Welles, and Marilyn Morgan. The final presentation of the evening will be the George F. Kaufman farce. "If Men Played Cards as Women Do," directed by Margaret Dutton. In the cast are Michael Shana han. Al Borchman, Don Veta, and Sandy Ievy.
