BURNETT HALL Housing the school of Journalism this year is this new building located next
to Andrews Hall. Included in this building are several new machines and the latest equipment
for university journalism majors. Foreign language classes will also be held here.

And this year the university
has $905,000 worth of new or
der, for Burnett Hall, the Phys
ical Elucation building, and the
MiKtary and Naval Science
building are ready for classes.
"The New Big Three" will not
only relieve the classroom short
age but will help to modernize
and beautify the campus. The
construction of these buildings is
part of an over-all plan to im
prove the campus.
Burnett hall will be used ,as a
general classroom building and
as headquarters for the Journal
ism doparement. Located di
rectly west of Andrews hall, thch
three-story structure cost $500,
000. University Hall, part of the
old order of campus buildings
and the former headquarters of
the journalism department, will
be razed this fall.
Coming all the "ay from
Camp Crowder, Mo., as a trans
fer "student," the Physical Edu
cation building will be used for
physical education classes, intra
mural basketball games, and as
headquarters for the Intramural
Athletic Department. The build
ing is a war surplus sports arena.'
The cost of moving this build
ing was borne by the Federal
Works administration. However,
the university spent an' addition
al $30,000 to reinforce the frame
work and to brick veneer the ex
terior in order to give the build
ing semi-permanent existence.
Altho not yet completely fin
ished the Military and Naval
Science .building was used last
spring and will again be used for
R.O.T.C. and N.R.O.T.C. classes.
The second floor of the build
ing is used as a drill hall, while
the main floor is used to house
computors, directors, large guns,
mines, torpedoes, and dummy
loading machines
Gillett Issues Call
For Ag Tassels
Tassel President Lois Gillett
announced today that there are
positions open in the women's pep
organization for sophomore girls
from Ag campus. Tassel require
ments are sophomore standing
with a 5.5 average. Any unaf
filiated girl from Ag campus who
does not live in an organized
house is eligible for filing. Filings
may be made at the offices of
both the Ag and city Student
Unions.
