Tuesday, June, 15, 1948 THE SUMMER NEBRASKAN Students Receive Services afctfcUra plots $-x our At Student Health Clinic Just as during the regular school year, students at the University are entitled to services and facil ities of the Student Health from the time regular classes begin, provided the student has complet ed his registration. This services ends at midnight on the last day of final examina tions at the close of each semester or summer school session. Hours for the city campus clinic are from 8-12 a.m. and 1-5 p.m. Monday thru Friday and from 8-12 Saturday morning. The clinic is closed Saturday after noons, Sundays and vacations. Student infirmary visiting hours are from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. No medical or hospital services are furnished during vacations, except in the case of a student who is hospitalized at the time a vacation begins, and then in the case of emergency only. Services. The student health service fee entitles the student: To a complete physical examination on entrance (required of all students entering the university for the first time), one complete physical examina tion every year thereafter while enrolled in the university, military and physical education place ments, intra-mural and swimming examinations; special examina tions required by Nebraska stat utes for certification of teacher; and to all medical services which can be rendered to ambulatory patients. Consulations with specialists are available as to diagnosis only on ear, eye, nose, throat, orthope dic, neourological and psychiatric problems upon authorization of one of the staff doctors. A clinical laboratory service is maintained by the student health service which entitles a student to Ordinary clinical laboratory tests and services, X-ray photographs, electrocardiographs, and basal me tabolism tests, for the cost of materials used and upon author ization of staff doctor. Drug Room. A drug room is maintained in the pharmacy building where pre scriptions are compounded and medical supplies can be purchased. The cost for hospitalization will be carried by the health service except for the $1 per day charged to the student. Students may not use the coli seum swimming pool without a swimming permit issued by the student health. Also, each student must obtain a special permit be fore engaging in any intramural sport. The student health department for the past year has been under going a complete re-orginzation to increase facilities. New Facilities. The new facilities at present consist of a two-story temporary structure (formerly a naval F.O.Q.) located at the southeast corner of the quadrangle. The first story is the dispensary and the second story the infirmary, con sisting of 15 bedrooms with a maximum capacity of 26 beds. It is hoped that, in the next several years, this temporary structure will be replaced by a permanent and adequate student health cen ter building. Utk Colbert Explains Authorization Notice of Subsistence Pay Student-veterans who -were in school the second semester ended on June 5, and who are continuing in summer school, will receive a notice of authorization of subsi stence allowance from the veter ans administration (V. A. form 7-506), stating that payments for the summer session will start June 21, 1948. This requires an explanation, according to J. P. Colbert, direc tor of veterans consultation board. Fay Continued The veterans administration is continuing the second semester subsistence of such students on to June 20, 1948, which is 15 days (vacation allowance) beyond June 5.
