Air-Conditioned Union Offers Full Entertainment Schedule The Student Union will be open from 7:15 a. m. in the morning until 10:30 p. m. Monday through Thursday eve nings during the summer school, according to director Duane Lake. On Friday, the building is open from 7:15 a. m. to 12:30 a. m. On Saturday, the building is open from 8:00 a. m. to 12:30 a. m. Sunday hours are from 8:00 a. m. to 10:30 p. m. The Corn Crib, fountain room, is open from 7:15 a. m. to 10:30 p. m., Monday through Thursday. On Friday, hours extend until 12:30 a. m. On Saturday hours of service are from 9:00 a. m. to 12:30 a. m. Sunday, the schedule is from 4:00 p. m. to 10:30 p. m. The campusline, the cafeteria, is open from 11:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. and from 5:00 to 6:30 p. m Monday thorugh Saturday. On Sunday, the campusline is open from 11:45 a. m. to 1:15 p. m. The main dining room on second floor will reopen June 14 hours from 11:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. Mon day through Friday for restaurant service. No Rental Charge. Private rooms are available for meetings or for private luncheons and dinners. Arrangements may be made at the Union office. There is no rental charge for meeting rooms. The Book Nook, on first floor in the east wing, contains mag azines, newspapers and current fiction and non-fiction, which are available for use only in that room. The music room on second floor in the east wing, contains a library of classical and semi- classical records and play-back equipment. Hours are 12 noon to 2 p. m. and 4:30 p. m. to 10:00 p. m. every day. Cards and table tennis equip ment are available at the Union checkstand. There is a deposit charge which will be refunded. There is also free checking serv ice and a Lost and Found De partment located at tl.e check stand. ' During the week the Union will sponsor Siesta film hours. Craft Shop, book reviews, bridge classes and a presentation of na tionally prominent artists. On the week ends, the Union will present orchestra, juke box and square dances, Variety shows, and coffee hours. Special con certs by student and faculty groups are also scheduled on the calendar. The Union will present the univeristy orchestra in an out door v'Pops" concerts Tuesday, July 14th at the east entrance to the stadium. The university sum mer theater will present a play on Friday, July 23 in the ball room. All activities are free with the exception of orchestra dances to which admission in 44c per person unless otherwise noted. Opens Program. A Union Open House on Fri day, June 11 will open the entire summer program. Specific dates for all activbities are noted in the accompanying calendar, and additional activities will be ad vertised on the campus and in the summer Nebraskan. The Ag Union on the campus of the College of Agriculture will be closed during the summed session. The Union activities committee wishes to extend a most cordial invitation to participate in all activities and the Union staff is at your service, Lake stated. He advised them not to write or con tact the VA about the new law, because the higher ratos will be paid automatically to GI Bill trainees whose existing records with VA contain the information needed. When additional infor mation is needed the VA will re quest it Ceiling provisions of the law provide that earned Income plus government subsistence pay shall not exceed $210 a month for a trainee veteran without depend ents; $270 for a trainee-veteran with one dependent, and $290 with more than one dependent. Westmoreland said many of the state's veterans- in training will be eligible for the higher pay rates. Darland to Attend Research Seminar , Dr. R. W. Darland, University botanist, is one of 100 U. S. Naval Reserve officers selected to at tend a two-week navy research seminar in Washington, D. C, June 9-23. Selection was made by Rear Admiral P. F. Lee, chief of Naval research.
