THE DAILY NEBRASKAN
Patter by Pat
A quantity of patter has accu
mulated over the week-end and
the future holds even more as we
case the place to bring you the
latest scoops from the groups.
v- Atmosphere has become the all
important element to party plan
ners. . A toast to the ZBT's for
plenty of the same at their recent
Casino Party complete with po
tent night club effects. Highlight
of the evening came when, on his
way from the bar to the gambling
table, Norton Garon lost his pin
and is now hunting for Estelle.
Hell's A Poppin was the theme
' of the Sigma Chi party. It was a
jolly affair. As eager party goers
entered they were shot in the
face with water guns and led to
comfortably wired chairs. Jo Lis
cher was bartender and a high
time was inevitable.
People are Funny.
Beware of the practical joker
which is rapidly invading the
campus. First prize goes to the
Sig Eps who dumped dummy
Folda er Folda's dummy in the
middle of the street and then
screamed, "Don't hit my broth
er" at endangered motorists.
The picnic crowd had a field
day Saturday complete with cas
ualties. Curley Elward entertained
picnickers with parlor games. His
specialty "I See a Bair" proved
to much for pin-mate Jo Feese,
who contracted a broken shoulder
from the deal. Moral Don't play
so rough.
The University of Nebraska in
firmary is the latest institution
for the furtherance of budding
romances. Latest victims are Anne
Marshall and Merrill "Fever"
Fier who went steady during their
stay and kept the nurses busy de
livering notes. Recovery doesn't
seem to have cooled the affair.
Parties Coming: Up.
Gay parties appear in the off
ing. Soon to transpire is the Kap
pa Sig Prohibition party which
will see the old KS house convert
ed into a bat. Randy Ewing and
Jackie Wightman, eager to enter
into the spirit of the affair, are
trying to decide whether to go as
bar flies or WCTUers.
If, on walking across the cam
pus,' you encounter individuals re
sembling Neanderthal men, don't
be frightened. It's only Phi Gams
who are desperately growing
beards for their coming Gay Nine
ties party. The past will be re
awakened as already demonstra
ted by the John Cover's invita
tion to last year's steady, Beryl
Lotsbiech.

COAL.
The 24-day old mine strike
spread to the hard coal fields
Tuesday. The move caught gov

Seven thousand anthracite

in the face of operator's proposals

pute over pensions.
Mine-worker head, John L.
Lewis made no move to accept
the offer. The operators made it
