. Nebraska's inexperienced mat squad split a pair of
week-end wrestling matches witn Colorado clubs as the
Colorado State College grapplers defeated Coach Pat Pat
terson's charges 20-6 Saturday night. Friday Nebraska
defeated uoiorado university.

ance with Dick' Hutton's time in
the 60 yard dash the highlight
of the afternoon. Hutton tied the
Big Six record held by Gene Lit
tler, Nebraska, by racking .up a
fast :06.3. Close behind Hutton
came Bill Moomey and Francis
Fagot who were tied for second.
The only field event recorded
was the shot put in which Dick
Pederit's distance of 49.94 feet
proved to be the best effort of
the day.
Coach Weir seemed to be
pleased in some of the depart
ments. Most of the runners
seemed to be starting well in the
dashes and Hutton s time seemed
to indicate more to come in the
future.

Intramural activities hit the fi
nal stdges of the first semester
schedules this week with the fi
nals of the annual indoor track
and field meet Monday night
headlining the program.
Alpha Tau Omega, with a firm
hold on first place, will be hard
pressed by the Delta Upsilon and
Phi Delta Theta cindermen in
the three final events to be run
off Monday afternoon in the 'east
stadium.
In Thursday's rifle shooting
tournament the ROTC marksmen
defeated the Univets and the
Pershing Rifles squad defeated
NROTC. Wilbur Schulte of Per
shing Rifles broke 190 targets out
of 200 while Bill Brandt of
NROTC hit 188.
Monday the Alpha Tau Omega
squad meets Farm House and
Sigma Chi fires against Delta Tau
Delta.
Monday and Tuesday games

Winning five of eight matcnes,
the Nebraska mat squad picked
up its initial victory of the sea
son Friday night by dropping the
Colorado Buffalo team . 19-10 in
a match held at the Coliseum.
Only Nebraska fall was regis
tered by Bob "Peewee" Yambor,
who flattened his 121-pound foe,
Bob Haldeman, in 4:28.
Kenny Brown, Jack Barrett,
Jack Tamai, and Jerry Calhoun
picked up decision in the 128,
136, 145 and 165-pound classes.
