Yell King Pesck Announces
Rules Regarding Card Stunts
In order that there will be a
successful card section for the
game against the Jayhawks Sat
urday, Yell King Martin Pesek
has announced the rules to be ob
served by those sitting in the card
section.
(1) . Cards should be in proper
order and ready to flash as soon
as the first half ends, since the
flashes are prepared to coincide
with the band formations.
(2) . No one should leave their
seats in the card section after ten
minutes of the second quarter
have born played.
(3) . If there are empty seats,
all persons should move toward
the center of the card section so
that only the edges have to be
filled. This will make it easier to
fill vacant seats.
(4) . Cards should be held with
the long side horizontal and the
short side vertical.
(5) . Signal for raising the cards
will be the chant: "One, two,
three, UP!" The same signal will
be used for lowering: "One two,
three, down."
(6) . Since paper cannot be ob
tained as in pre-war years, stu
dents are asked not to destroy
their cards. Later in the game,
they will be passed to the aisles.
Corn Cobs will collect them so
they may be re-used at later home
games.
The original order of the stunts
has been changed, and beginning
with No. 5, numbers 4 and 3 will
follow. Stunts No. 1 and 2 will not
be used. Arrangements has been
made for wto Corn Cobs to hold
small replicas of the stunts in
front of the card section so that
students can see what the cards
will form.
After the band has marched on
to the field and played the "Star
Spangled Banner," Pesek will an
nounce the 172nd birthday 1t the
U. S. Marine Corps. The band
wil then play the Marine hymn.
Everyone is requested to join in
the singing of the hymn.
