Page 4 THE DAILY NEBRASKAN Eritkry, May, St 3Q3 (RacoAjcL (RainblinqA By Steve SwarU Slan Kenton Across The Alley From The Alamo There Is No Greater Love The Kenton Crew proves a real disappointment on this disc, for this, I would list as one of his poorest releases. June Christy sounds sharp on 'Alamo," and the solo listed for Vido Musso ma terializes as merely a few riff bars on the tenor sax. The Pastels show very definitely on "Love" that they still lack that punch needed to make them a great vocal group. (Cap. 387) Bonny Goodman Fine and Dandy Lonesome Road These two numbers are handled by the Goodman Quintet and Quartet respectively. Only re deeming feature of either side is some fine accordian jazz played by hrnie Fihce, west coast cat The remainder of "Dandy" is no where. Without Filice. "Road" has nothing to speak of. (Cap. 3i)4) Tied Pipers Mam'selle It's The Same Old Deam The Pipes rido smoothly over "Mam'selle," which is taken from a theme in "The Razor's Edge." The arrangement is pleasing and will be enjoyed by the numerous lovers of this tunc. They sound fine on "Dream" and the Paul Weston ork helps much. (Cap. 396) King Cole Trio Meet Me At No Special Place (And I'll Be There At No Particular Time) t " You Don't Learn That In School King Cole vocalizes on both sides, taking "School" at a faster tempo with some great lyrics. Tommy Dorscy Bingo, Bango, Boffo Spring Isn't Everything The Dorsey crew rides rampant over "Bingo," and its is one of Billy Finnegan's fine scorings There is some fine trumpet that sounds like Charlie Shavers, and the whole band comes in for a good share of expression on this tune. It s one of Dorsey s finer jump numbers. On "Spring" Stuart Foster handles the vocal in his usual pleasing manner, but I am unable to find anything too outstanding about the side. (Victor 20-2196) Delia Sigs . r . (Continued from I' age J.) of the Temple. Last year Delta Gamma won the organization award. Beta Sigma I si was runner-up and Sigma Del ta Tau was third. Winning indi viduals last year were Lucy Hape man, Eleanor Knoll and Dick Schluesener. VETS NEWS Veterans under Public Law 346 (the G. I.
