A fiery Beta Theta Pi baskpthall team Tuesday night turned in what proved to be the best per formance of the first offs held in the UN Coliseum. The Betas played inspired ball as they turned back one of the pre-tour-ney favorites, Phi Delta Theta, 32 28. The Phi Delts were in command most of the way and especially during: the first half. However, the Betas fighting back from a three point deficit, took full ad vantage of every break in the sec ond half to finally take the lead for the first time- with seven min utes to go at 22-20. After that they were never headed despite steady aggressive brand of ball that was thrown at them by the Phi Delts. The game was by far the best played in any IM Loop this year and marks the Betas as a definite threat to any contender for the IM crown. . The victory eliminated a team that swept through all league op position with ease and had been seeded one of the top spots in the playoffs.
