The game was marked by fast action and alert ball hawking on the part of the Husker machine. Bill Collopy of the Iowa team started the scoring with a charity toss, but Thurman Wright and Bill Denker headed a sudden surge that carried the Nebraskans into the lead to stay. Bietorman's ball stealing and all round hcads-up play did a lot toward the dissolu tion of the Morningside team. The first team had built up a 12 point cushion when the second group entered the fray. Though this group didn't operate as smoothly as the first, they still sported a 35-25 advantage at hall time. After the intermission, the Nub bins, with the first stringers back in, raced farther ahead and made it po.ssible for Coach Tony Sharpe to clear the bench of his 20 squad men. In addition, all the Morn ingside players saw action. The bulk of the Morningside scoring came from their lankv center, McF.lmurry, who garnered 12 points to lead both teams Thurman Wright, with 10. led the Nubbins, followed bv Bill Saler with eitdit and Bill Denker and Bernie Bietcrman with seven.
