Paae 8 THE DAILY NEBRASKAN Thursday, October 31, 1945 Dupre Gives Recital Here Friday Night Continuing . a season of top flight musical entertainment pre sented by various Lincoln organ izations, French organist Marcel Dupre will appear in a recital of organ music tomorrow night at 8 p.m. at the Plymouth Congre gational Church. Sponsored by the Lincoln chapter of the Ameri can Guild of Organists, Dupre is considered by critics as a great organist. Already a talented organist at the age of 12 at St. Vincent's in Rouen, France, Dupre won first prizes in piano, counterpoint and organ at the Paris Conservatory at the ages of 19, 21 and 23. Five years later he was named to the honor post of organist at Notre Dame cathedral. He now holds the organist position at Paris' St bulpice cathedral. Dupre is best known for his im provising genius, as well as for his performing skill. He ends 'almost every recital with an exhibition of improvising. Handed several themes just a few minutes before he is to use them, Dupre weaves them into a new composition. Professor Myron Roberts has been collecting suggested themes from 'a number of Lincoln musicians which he will give to Mr. Dupre lor his recital tomorrow evening. Tickets, selling for a single price of $1.20, are available at Walt's and Dietz' music stores and from Professor Roberts. Will We See The Awgwan This Friday?
