The intramural Softball season,
scheduled to begin today, will be
gin next Monday, April 9, the in
tramural director announced today.
The teams entered were listed in
last week's paper and are repeated
for the benefit of those who
missed the announcement. The
teams are: Xi Psi Phi; Phi Gamma
Delta, Sigma Nu, Alpha Tau
Omega, Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Phi
Epsilon, Theta Xi, Pioneer Co-op,
Cornhusker Co-op, Sig Chi, Ag
college.
The rules governing softball
play are as follows:
1. Players must furnish own
gloves and playing clothes.
2. Balls, bats and catchers
mask will be furnished by the
I-M department.
3. All games will begin at 5:00
p. m. and will end promptly at
5:50 p. m.
4. In the event that the game
is not completed in time allotted
the score will revert back to the
last complete inning.
5. All full games will be 5 in
nings in length.
6. Any teams failing to be on
the field and ready to play at
5:00 will automatically forfeit the
game.
7. These regulations will and
must be carried out as presented
so that the players will not be in-
convienced in their respective
houses.

All those interested in baseball
should begin to organize their
teams according to the divisions
made out. Team captains may
check out equipment for practice.

spring practice which is now in
session at the Mount Oread in
stitution Coaches Henry Shenk
and Elmer Schaake are experi
menting with the "T" formation.
Thru the years that they have
been coaching in high schools and
at the university, the coaches
have used the single wing forma
tion exclusively, but this spring
the Jayhawker mentors have de
cided to try the "T."
35 Report.
About 35 athletes are reporting
each afternoon for practice ses
sions. The group includes the
following leltermen: Gordon
Reynolds, Charles Moffet, Dorwin
Lamkin, Dud Day, Garland Can
trell, Cecil Lartgford and Don
Stockdale.
The Kansas coaches have been
having Charley Conroy of Neo-
desha, Tom Sinclair of Humboldt;
and Kenneth Kuth of Nashville'
handling the ball on the "T" for
mation. When Shenk was asked if the
Kansas coaches planned to junk
the single wing and go all out for
"T," he replied, "By no means.
We are just doing some experi
menting this spring. We may use
the "T" some next fall but we;
will rely mostly on single wing
formations to gain ground."

In practice this week, Charles ;
Moffett of Peabody, all Big Six

Chick Sutherland, piloting the
only Big Six baseball squad active
this season, has announced his
completed schedule for spring
quarter play.
Cyclone players will open
against Simpson college at Ames
on Friday and Saturday, April 6
and 7. The rest of he schedule
is as follows:
April 13-14, Wartburg college at
Ames.
April 20-21, Minnesota at Ames.
April 27, Luther college at

April 28, Ottumwa Navy at Ot-

longer and wind up the spring
drills with a game between squad
members.
The Crimson and Blue clad
athletes will open the session Sat
urday night, Sept. 22, playing
Texas Christian University of
Fort Worth, Tex., in Ruppert Sta
dium, Kansas City, Mo., under the
lights.

Short meeting of participants in
the ping-pong tournament of the
Spring Spree will be held in the
WAA office in Grant Memorial
tonight at , 7 p. m. and Thursday
at 7 p. m.
Since the times for different
rounds and the rules of the tour
nament will be discussed, every
one interested should attend.
Swimming tournament has been
postponed, the new date having
been set for April 21. Practices for
participants will continue on
Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 p. m.
and on Saturdays from 1:30 to
3:30 p. m. Any coed participating
in the tournament who is enrolled
in a swimming class may get a
permit from her instructor veri
fying her attendance instead of
having a separate practice for
the tournament.
Officials have been chosen for
the tournament. The referee will
be Frannie Bleick: timekeepers,
Ruth Bicknell. Elaine Osterman,
Carol Krey, Joyce Lindberg, Mary
Jean Way and Beverly Uhler;
clerk of course, Jody Lynn; start
er, Isadore Brown; scorer, Char
lotte Blum; inspector, Eunice Way;
diving judges, Misses Kuplic, Mott
and Lockhart; and judges, Vir
ginia Townsend, Fern Freeman
and Dorothy Sand.
