Coach Ed Weir frankly admits that the adverse weather condi tions have handicapped his thin clads in their preparation for the coming outdoor meets. "We've been outdoors very little so far this spring," says Ed, "and under those circumstances it is nara to get much of a line on what the boys can do in outdoor competi tion." Such standbys of the indoor season as Dean Kratz, Dick Miller, Buzz Hollins, Norvall Barker, Dick Petty, and Bob Smith form the backbone of Weir's small squad. UN j&ridders Work Indoors, Stress Passes, Ballhandling Held indoors by unseasonable weather, Hiusker footballers stressed ball-handling and passing drills in their practice session un der the east stadium yesterday afternoon. The rain and snow of the past few days have held up Coach A. J. Lewandowski's spring practice plans, but the Scarlet mentor con tinues optimistic and energetic as he pushed his charges thru their daily practice sessions. Fundamentals Stressed. End Bert Gissler, tackles Frank Hazard and Lyle Kops, and full back Buzz Hollins, all lettermen from last year's squad, form the nucleus of the line-up which Lew has assembled for the dummy scrimmages and offensive drills. Such fundamentals as passing, dummy scrimmage, and kicking continue to receive the sweat-suit clad Huskers' attention. Lack of manpower prevents any actual contact work. Battle for Center. Completing the lineup are La Verne Curry at end, Gordie Ehlers and Jim Abdnor at guards, Joe Kessler at quarter, and Dick Koch and Doug Nelson in the halfback slots. Merle Ebers, George Ul- brick, and Jim Chadderdon are battling for the center post. Lewandowski hopes to move the practice sessions outdoors again sometime this week. Ahoy, There!
