Chorus Tryouts SlateI
For 6:15 Monday Night
Try-outs for membership in
the AST Male Chorus will be
held tomorrow night at 6:15 in
the third floor study hall of
Love library. All ASTP and
ASTRP men who are interest
ed in choral singing are eli
gible. The group is under the di
rection of MSgt. James D.
Smith, who was a UN music
instructor before entering the
army. The boys recently made
their first public appearance at
the First Presbyterian church,
and expect to make several
more such guest appearances
during the present term. Also
scheduled is a performance at
a war-bond rally in March.
Many vacancies were created
in the personnel of the chorus
at the end of last term. It is
hoped that the new men of the
AST reserve will respond in
sufficient strength to fill the
empty chairs.
Powerful Base Team
Led By Tatum, Hudak

Company team last night to win
71 to 42. The Raiders led at half-
time 33819, and went on to score
39 more points in the second period
to nack up a decisive victory.
Biff iruns for the Base outfit
were "Goose" Tatum with 22
noints. and Bob Hudak with 20
counters. These two were given
plenty of help by Vic Krafft with
11 points, Ralph Brady with 10,
and Husky Tony Koval who added
6 points to the winners total.
Reliable Milt Dobrer paced the
ASTP quintefs attack with 14
points, aided by ex-UN John Bot
torf with 10 markers. After 7
minutes the Raiders led 9 to 3.
and the closest C Company came
to tieing it up was with 12 minutes
gone when the count stood at

Quintet To Decisive Win
After getting off to a slow
start, company B turned on the
heat in the second half to wallop
the 331st training group from the
Lincoln Air Base, 68-43, in the
first half of Saturday night's dou
blcheader in the coliseum. The air
base five, led by Walton and
Myers, showed to advantage in a
fast first half, to lead 25-21 at
the whistle.
The second half found company
B fastbreaking, and sifting thru
khe 331st's defense almost at will,
as Bob Scheer dropped in seven
field goals and Bunny Fuller six
to lead the attack. The Green
really began to roll about five
minutes after the half, and left'
no doubt as to which was the bet
ter team, scoring 24 buckets in a
furious second period.
