STARS Make
War Maps
Of Europe
At the engineering building on
Ag campus, STAR soldiers are
busy making and painting maps
of Europe.
Under the direction of Prof. Phil
Colbert of the engineering depart
ment, trainees that have been
classified and who are awaiting
shipment are forming maps out
of volcanic ash. plaster of Paris,
and Portland cement. Rivers and
main communications of the war
fronts are painted with showcard
paint and the relief is done to a
scale.
Col. Arthur Lobdell has used
the maps to illustrate his speeches
before various organizations. The
larzest map on display shows day
by day changes along the Euro
pean Mediterranean areas, reveal
ing the current positions of the in
vading allied armies.
Civilian and naval students on
the Georgia Tech campus are con
ducting a contest to name the
queen of all Techmen's girl
friends. The winner will be dub
bed: J'The Girl I'd Rather Be Re
stricted With."

If you do, call 2-7371 and ask for
Murt. She doesn't' live there but
you may be able to promote a
date with the operator.
Out of the still of a Saturday
morning, piped a voice. "Will
books be on the top or bottom
shelf for tomorrow's inspection?"
Top! Bottom! Top! Bottom! came
the rapid responses. This contro
versy continued until a compro
mise was reached; half of the men
put theirs on the top, the other
half put theirs on the bottom.
(And all passed inspection.)
