Mortar Board, women's honorary, masked eleven juniors yesterday afternoon in the traditional Ivy Day cere monies on the lawn of the old campus. " Attired in the characteristic black robes, members of the honor ary selected Rachel Ann Lock, Betty Hohf, Nancy Raymond, Ger trude Lyons and Betty Bonebright as president, vice president, secre tary, treasurer and historian, re spectively. Rachel Ann Lock is new presi dent of the societv. She was masked by the outgoing president, P -othy Weirich. Miss Lock is a u .uber of Delta Delta ucita so rority, the AWS board, Home Ec association, Student War Council and Phi Upsilon Omicron. Betty Hohf Is Vice President. The new vice president is Betty Hohf, who was masked by Susan Shaw, outgoing vice president. Miss Hohf is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and the YWCA cabinet and is managing editor of the Cornhusker, student yearbook. Nancy Raymond is new secre tary, masked by Sylvia Katzman, outgoing secretary. Nancy is a Delta Gamma. She has been vice president of Coed Counselors and is the present vice president of Tassels. Gertrude Lyons is the new treas urer and was masked by Shirley Phelps, her predecessor in the of fice. She has been a member of Coed Counselors, and Alpha Lambda Delta, honorary society for freshman women. Named Historian. Betty Bonebright is the new his torian. She is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, Tassels, Coed Coun selors and YWCA cabinet. She was masked by Alice Louise Becker. Janet Hemphill is a member of Pi Beta Phi, president of AWS board, secretary of Tassels, mem ber of Alpha Lambda Delta, 1942 Pep Queen, and was masked by Susan Shaw. Catherine Wells is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, president of Coed Counselors, member of YWCA cabinet and War Council. Anne Kinder placed the mask on her. Jane Dalthorpe is a member of Alpha Chi Omega, president of YWCA, member of Tassels. She was masked by Helen Kelly Hop kins. Lila Jean Howell is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, president of Tassels, vice president of Stu dent Foundation, secretary of WAA. ANNE STUART KINDER Relfnlnf Qbeea of 1I4S Uj Day Coart Preceded by her court of ten attendants, two flower girls and ring bearer, the queen of the 1943 Ivy Day ceremonies, Miss Anne Kinder, walked down a white path to her throne on the lawn north of the administration building Reigning over the traditional Ivy Day ceremony yesterday as May Queen waa Anne Stuart Kinder, of Lincoln. Betty Newman of Aurora served as Miss Kinder's maid of honor. In keeping with the general war time tone of the campus affairs, the ceremony was shorter than usual and the queen and her at tendants were in informal dress. Ivy Day felt the stringencies of war in other ways. For example, th TirMpntAtion of an Ivv Day poet and orator was dispensed with. Innocents Tapped in February. The tAnnin? of Innocents, senior men selected on the basis of cam pus leadership, was not a part of the program, having been carried out months ago in order that hon orees might be chosen and given a chance to serve the order for a brief time before going to the armed services. Masking of Mortar Boards, women's senior honorary society, took place late in the afternoon. The ceremonv on the lawn north of Administration hall opened with numbers by the university band. The procession to tne tnrone was led by 1942-43 Innocents, men rame the 1943-44 Tnnorv'", the incumbent Mortar Board mem bers. Two representatives of the freshman, sophomore and senior classes and four juniors came next as attendants to the queen. Class Presidents Plant Ivy. The maid of honor was next in order and was followed by Bob McNutt, Junior class president, and Bob Fast, senior president. who are the traditional planters of the ivy. (The ivy never grows another tradition.) Then came Miss Kinder to answer the ques tion on the minds of students and townspeople from whom her iden tity had been kept until this time. Her selection was by vote of women students. Miss Kinder's dress was of transparent waffle pique with a deep square neckline finished with wide embossed net The skirt was gored, full at the hemline and molded thru the bodice and hip- line. The hem was also finished with embossed net. Has Numerous Activities. Miss Kinder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jean Rollins Kinder, is a member of Pi Beta Phi, Mortar Board, president of Coed Coun selors, Tassel, sorority editor of the Cornhusker yearbook, Vestals nf the Limn and the YWCA freshman cabinet. She will gradu- jate this spring from the college of arts and sciences. Miss Newman, her maid of hon or, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Newman. She is a Delta C.amma. Mortar Board, president of the WAA. AWS board, the de- hate team. University Players, Vestals of the Lamn. YWCA and freshman cabinet and president 01 Delta Sigma Kho, ae Dating society. The crown bearer was James Seacrest of Lincoln. The flower girls were Judy Williams, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. L.. J. wu liams of Lincoln, and Carolyn Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Carl Olson, of Lincoln. Both chil dren are 3 years of age. Senior Jean Baker, president (See COURT, page 4.) 7ins Pi Beta Phi Intersorority Sing Singing the "Sweetheart of the1 Wine and the Blue," the Pi Beta Phis won the intersorority sing sponsored by the AWS at the an nual Ivy Day ceremony yesterday afternoon. Song leader of the group was Mary Ellen Monnich. The Kappa Alpha Thetas, under the direction of Margaret Rosbor ough, won second place in the sine with "Twin Stars." Roma Biba directed the third place win ners, Alpha rhl, who sang a med ley of fraternity songs. An Air Corps chorus composed of men stationed in Don Love Me morial library concluded the Ivy Day sing ceremonies with "My Gal Sal," the G I song, "Apple Blossoms" and the army air corps cadet song. Twelve organized women's groups competed for the cup which is given annually to the winners of the intersorority sing by the reigning Ivy Day queen. The lnterfraternity sing waa cancelled this year due to the lost of a large number of men to the armed forces.
