(ACP). A survey among 250
college studcnt3, male and fe
male, from five universities, re
veals the interesting fact that
the girls rather like to play
poker. In fact, they also like to
watch horse races ind get all
riled over political problems,
just as the men do.
Dr. Clifford R. Adams, assist
ant professor of psychology at
Pennsylvania State college found
out these things thru his per
sonal audit test.
Men, he says, aren't so much
different from girls. They both
like to act in movies, perform
on the radio and play golf and
bridge.
But there are differences. Men
like to be big shots.
Deep down inside, the gals are
still just as the men like to pic
ture them.
Social activities and charitable
work are their forte. The coeds
said they enjoyed entertaining
and going to picnics, masque
rade parties and full-dress affairs.

The clubs some 250 Cyclones are
carrying, are standard classroom
equipment for "judo." Judo is the
formal name for the class com
bining all the worse tricks of
American wrestling, jlu jitsu, and
rough and tumble fighting.
"D. W." (dirty wrestling) it's
called in class.
Judo, offered as part of Iowa
State's gigantic hardening pro
gram, teaches its students how to
use every bit of equipment in
hand-to-hand fighting.
"It is primarily attack," snys
Hugo Otopalik, Cyclone wrestling
conch who teaches the course, "but
it will come in handy when on the
defensive too."

The "A" division of the intra
mural basketball contest on this
campus ended Wednesday night
with Farm House trouncing the
Beta Sig team 18-4.
Leading the Farm House team
was "Bop" Minthorne with 8
points followed by Don Mueller.
Outstanding for the Beta Sigs
"Knobby" Tieman, freshman and
Harlan Hendricks.
In the "B" contest there arc
still several teams in the running
and the winner of this division will
not be determined until later this
week.
Several weeks ago the Ag Exec
board came out with an announce
ment concerning the cutting across
the campus. At first it seemed
that the students took the an
nouncement seriously and for
awhile the sidewalks were used,
but alas today we find any num
ber of paths that are used much
more than the walks.
If we wish to keep our campus
unmarred by these paths, it's time
that we were "keeping off the
grass."
Wesleyan university has re
cently added a navy pre-flight
school.
Having outgrown its office
space occupied since 1922, head
quarters for the University of
Michigan ROTC is now housed in
a former fraternity house.

Exhibiting too much height, ex
perience, and speed, the giant
Olathe Air Base basketeers routed
Nebraska's Cornhuskeis 51 to 37
in a wild battle on the coliseum
hardwood last night.
Three top Cadet sharpshooters,
Menke, Wesche, and Covert pil
fered the netting with mprvelous
accuracy to keep the Huskers
buried under an avalanche of scor
ing thruout. Menke ignited the
rout with 12 points in the opening
half in giving his teammates a 31
to 15 lead at the intermission and
Covert and Wesche continued the
blitz in the second canto.
The Navy clippers ripped out in
front early, enjoying a 9 to 1 soon
after the whistle before Bob Ilein
zU'iiiiin and Johnny Thompson ral
lied to pull up the slack and min
utes later the Cadets led, 11 to 9.
Menke stemmed the Scarlet with
a couple of buckets and the Clip
pers were well in command at the
intermission with a 31 to 15 mar
gin. Predominant factor in Clipper
play was the supreme height ad
vantage which enabled them to
control play under the baskets the
entire way.
Husker aggressor, John Fitzgib
bon, whipped in a couple of beau
tics from deep out and Young got
a tip-in, as Nebraska moved up
within ten points at the opening of
the second canto. The Cadets'
lead weathered to 33 to 23 and 41
to 30 before Lt. Jack Gardner,
Clipper headman, thrust in a cou
ple of fresh Navy reserves to stem
the attack. Don Covert potted two
baskets and another reserve, Her
bcrgill, got another and it was the
Olathe charges from there on in
to a 51 to 37 win to the gun.
Heinzleman, top Husker with 11
points, sparked a brief closing
splurge with noble support from
Cassidy who dropped in two goals.
