Gqpliers hi Readiness For Fast
Hockey Season Minns Veterans
MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 7. Los
ing 12 good hockey players via
the armed services and graduation
is enough to play hob with any
squad, and yet, Coach Larry Arm
strong can say that he sees "good
possibilities" in his big, but green
Minnesota hockey team.
"The boys are not as fast nor
as experienced as last year's men
but they are pretty heavy and
they ought to come right along
especially after a couple of
games," says Armstrong.
Lose Vets.
Among the men lost from last
year's squad are Capt. Al Eggle
ton, Freddy Junger, Bobby Arnold,
Burt Joseph and John Teterson.
They will all be hard to replace,

but Coach Armstrong will be able
to get an idea of the strength of
his new team in the earliest
games.
As yet, he is not decided on his
first and second lines but as the
schedule approaches, Mally Wil
liams and Pat Ryan seem to have
the call at the wings; veteran Dick
Kelley at center; and Bud Leckie
and Co-captain Don Nolander at
the defense posts. MacThayer will
probably be in the nets. .
Narrow Edge.
Pressing this sextet the closest
for starting positions are Wing
man Paddy Ryan of Hibbing; Cen
ter Fred Heiseke and Versatile
Bob Graiziger.

Waves . . .
(Continued from Fage 1.)
According to Ensign Davis,
many people have a mistaken idea
of the V-U class. It is an officer
candidates class which will be
called to active duty when its
members arc needed and does not
insure completion of college
courses. "Any technical training
that can be had in college," she
added, "will be valuable at the
time of entering any branch of
the armed services. Mathematics
is especially beneficial."
Women graduating in January
and desiring to belome a member
of the WAVES should investigate
enlistment now. June graduates
and desiring to become a member
before graduation.
