Eligible Bachelors Stalk Campus
In Search of Women and Votes
Bachelors! . . . On this cam
pus the University of Nebraska?
With the war scare almost every
available Joe College is being
sought, for there aren't many men,
supposedly left on the campus.
Yet a few manage to wander about
still unattached.
Just because a male is unat
tached doesn't mean that he is an
eligible bachelor. "A bachelor," ac
cording to Webster, "is a knight
who followed the standards of an
other, either because of his youth
or his having too few vassals of
his own; hence, a novice in arms."
Maybe so, but according to the
girls of the campus, a bachelor is
no novice in arms.. . .Especially
an eligible one.
He Is undoubtedly eligible be
cause of his skill in eluding women
who like him because of his
charm (?), looks, (probably) and
money! Perhaps the elusiveness is
part of the fascination.
Now election time has rolled
around and the eligible bachelors,
or candidates, will have to with
draw from their seclusiveness and
make themselves known they
with the help of their fraternity
brothers. With reference to se
clusiveness to be a bachelor one
Coeds Revel in Dr.
ten ton 9s Pajamas
BY PAT CATLIN.
Brahm's lullaby floats on the
chilly blasts that blow in the win
dow as our UN coed turns over
her be-curlered head to see if it is
time to arise and shine.
This miss doesn't mind getting
up in the cold room because she
had foresight and bought some
Dr. Denton pajamas. The sleepers
may not be the most glamorous
attire, but who cares since they
are equipped with feet, mittens,
and a nose warmer ?
Regulations Guide Sale.
Government regulations put a
stop to adding unnecessary fea
tures shown by the new robes. My
lady will not lounge in a robe this
year that falls to the floor in vol
uptious folds, but in one that
wraps around in the new shin
length.
This does not mean that clipped
velvet, quilted satin, and taffeta
will not be displayed, for the ma
terials are as fine a quality as
ever. Plaid and flowered materials
designed on captivating lines make
studying a more pleasant experi
ence. For sleeping wear, outing flan
nel pajamas and nighties are
found to be quite snug on a cold
winter night. A few of the clever
patterns feature Peter Pan collars
edged with ruffles, monograms on
the pockets, or appliqued animals.
This wearing apparel may be
purchased also in floral patterns
or in plain tailored lines. Manu
facturers have made up gay cot
ton prints into comfortable sleep
ing wear shown in long and short
sleeve styles. These pajamas have
a dual selling point they are eas
ily laundered, and they wear like
iron.
Lounging pajamas are fast be
coming a favorite for study wear.
Dressmaker styles cut in gabar
dine are a welcome possession of
any college lass. Most suits boast
big pockets for pens, pencils, and
even room for apples or candy
bars. Cotton milkman suits find
themselves at many a study table.
These suits provide comfort and
practicability as they can be worn
on picnics too.
Insomnia should not prevail on
our campus with the stores full of
clothes designed for more sleeping
comfort.

would' have to stay in the back

the latter just another reason for
being desired.
Girls, when they come into sieht
look them over and decide which
six are the most desirable, and
cast your vote accordingly. Our
one chance to be critical without
being caught.
To those six who will be "the
eligible bachelors" of the campus
iaKe need or this plea. Please dear
Mr. Bachelor, let your person
ality radiate around the campus
so that a girl will have a chance
to say she at least saw you, and
possibly that is, if you'll condes
cent to sav that she dated vou.
You can't imagine what this would
mean to those attending "the fu
ture girls' school" . . . The Uni
versity of Nebraska.
Dormitories Hold
Guest Evenings
Each Wednesday
Wednesday night is always
guest night at the dorms and other
organized womens' houses on the
campus. On this evening resi
dences of the houses invite boy
friends, mothers, fathers, and
friends to dine with them.
Honored guest at the dorm last
Wednesday was Assistant Dean
Elsie Ford Piper. Upon another
occasion Dean Verna G. Boyles
was the guest of honor.
Visitors' night gives the par
ents and friends of the girls a
chance to see how the girls live
and to meet the people with whom
they live. It also gives the girls
a chance to meet members of the
faculty and administrative staff
informally.
Luncheon Honors
Miss Zimmerman
The physical education staff
will honor Miss Dorothy Zimmer
man at a luncheon this noon.
Miss Zimmerman has resigned
from her position on the univer
sity staff and will leave Friday
afternoon for overseas work with
the armed forces.
She is to be assistant director of
a Service club and will be in
charge of the management of the
entire club. Part of her functions
will be supervision direction of re
creational programs.
