Sigma Nu Take
Second Victory

Sigma Nu made it two victories
in a row yesterday afternoon when
"Tex" Cole threw two touchdown
passes in the first quarter to lead
his team to a 13 to 0 win over the
Delts.
The winners struck early when
Cole tossed a pass to Stan Malcy
who outran the Delt team for a
score. Cole's place kick made the
score read 7 to 0. Two minutes
later the Sig1 Nil's made the. score
read 13 to 0 when Don Young,
who was on a sleeper, gathered in
another Cole pass for the touch
down. For the remaining1 three periods
both teams played scoreless ball

The ZBT's jumped into a tie
with the Sammies for top honors
in league four when they turned
back a fighting Alpha Sig nine
7 to 0.
The winners scored the first
time they had possession of the
pigskin when Bobby had posses
sion of the ball over from the
4-yard line to climax, a sustained
drive of 3G yards. Allan Jacobs
boosted the score to 7 to 0 on a
perfect platckick.
Fromkin, who is the scat type
of a back, played a large part in
the ZBT win with Jus fancy run
ning and potent punting.
Kappa Sigma 14, Theta Xi 0.
Bob Gutschow's southpaw pass
ing was the leading factor as the
Kappa Sig's won their first game
of the season by the score of 14 to
0 over the Theta Xi's. The Kappa
Sigs lost their opening game of
the season to the league leading
Sig Nu's 6 to 2.
Sigma Chi 12, Beta Sigma Psi 0.
In the final game yesterday, the
Sig Chi's showed a reversal in
form as they defeated a sturborn
Beta Sig team 12 to 0.
The Moslem university of Al
Azhar in Cairo, Sgypt, was found
ed in 970.

Members Leave
For New Work
Four of the staff members of
the phys ed department have re
signed because of conditions ere
ated by the war. Mrs. Shirley
Bennett Toman resigned in order
that she might join her husband,
who is an army officer stationed
at Cornell university.
Mrs. W. E. Manelee resigned to
join her husband, who is in the
army.
Miss Fein Focht resigned her
position as a staff member to
enter medical school at North
western.
Miss Faye Thompson resigned
her position for State Teachers at
Denton, Tex. Her position there
was created by an increase in en
rollment caused by the war.
Three new teachers have been
added to our faculty. Dr. Ileene
Lockhart has accepted a position
with our phys ed department. She
is a graduate of Texas State
Women's college, and received her
master's degree as well as her
doctor's at the University of Wis
consin. She was formerly director
of phys ed at Baylor university.
Miss Janice Carkin resigned her
position as director of physical
education at St. Olafs. She re
ceived her undergraduate training
at Oberlin and her master's de-

Shift Set For
Cyclone Game
AMES, la., Oct. 8. Marquette
will show Iowa State college fans
something different in shifts when
the two teams meet for the tenth
time here Saturday.
Tom SUdham, the big fellow
who coaches the Golden Avalanche
used a similar shift while at Ok
lahoma but has added some dazz
ling and rapid variations.
