This is the type of action that Coach Glenn Presnell would like to see more of. Rain, cold and more bad weather have con
spired to keep the Huskers Inside. If everything goes right, this type of activity will be carried out tomorrow afternoon in an extended
scrimmage. The above cut shows one of the Blue assaults from last Saturday.

Without Bierinan, Gophers
Will Still Have Good Team
MINNEAPOLIS, March 26.
That Minnesota is going to have
the very best football it can under
wartime circumstances will be the
understanding when Dr. George
Hauser and his - newly revamped
coaching staff meet the 1942 squad
to open spring practice on Mon
day. March 30.
During the last World war ath
letics moped and nearly died from
lack of attention, but this time
the national policy calls for de
tailed attention to physical condi
tion and bodily hardening, and
college athletic will be held up
both as a means to those ends
and as an example.
Lettermen Expected.
Twenty-five lettermen are ex
pected back to lead the squad of
better than 100 men who will get
their first taste of drill under the
coaching combination of Dr. Haus
er, Red Dawson, Bud Wilkinson,
Bert Easton, Sig Harris and John
Ronning.
When graduation took its toll
last fall, 15 lettermen left and six
of these were guards. Moreover,
not too many of the men who will
show up Monday are trained for
guard duty. Best prospects are
Wally Holmstrom. a letterman;
John Bichankh, Bob Sanders and
Oeorge Path, reserves; and Charles
Dellaho of Virginia and Dick
Plunkett of Austin, both outstand
ing freshmen during fall and win-
iter practices. Plunkett is the
brother of quarterback Warren
1 Plunkett.
Have Plenty of Odds.
As was shown during last year's
I games, Minnesota had and still has
J plenty of good ends. Only Bob
I Fitch and Charles (Judd) Ringer
; graduated, leaving six men as
most hkely contestants for the

Two men, Roy Lilja and Fren Baa

work in this position with the
freshmen squad. They are both

Captain Dick Wildung leads the
