Book Worm's Delight
Gifts for Those Who Like to Read
By Ed Hirsch.
If you are searching for a
Cliristmas gift that will please a
friend and give him or her hours
of diverting entertainment, then
you should consider a book. And
in giving a
book you
know that
the receiver
will be de
ghted with
it for there
is a book for
every type of
person. If
your friend craves excitement you
can present him with a murder
mystery. If he enjoys reading
books for the purpose of obtain-
lng information, then give him a
book on the present affairs.
One of the most recent books to
come out for the month of De
cember is "The Storm" ($2.50)
by George R. Stewart Stewart
makes his story unique in that it
gives the reader the position of
an Olympian watching the begin
ning, termination and the results
of a storm that effects many lives.
"The Storm" is highly dramatic
fiction and combines the drama
of science with the drama of hu
man experiences.
For the Travelers.
If your friend wants to go
places and see things, then give
him Edna Ferber's "Saratoga
Trunk" $2.50). It is a story with

falls in- love with a tall handsome
Texas cowboy, and together they
travel to Saratoga of the 80's to
turn the town upside down. Fi
nally they settle down with a rail
road in their possession.
Give your friend John Gunther's

he wants to keep abreast with
daily happenings.

of some active's good advice, or
to cement visibly a sorority friendship.
P r e s ents to
sorority sisters
may range all
the way from
a childish toy
animal to crest
ed jewelry. For
an active mem
ber there can
hardly be a
more treasured
gift than a crested mother-of-pearl
locket or an onyx ring. Compacts
and cigarette cacs are available in
all sorts of metal with large or
small crests, while more unusual
are the soft feminine billfolds with
innumerable pockets and divisions.
Gifts' for all types of girls may be
chosen from such a selection.
Increasing rapidly in popularity
is the giving of silver to one cf
your many friends with marriage
looming ahead. It involves little
shopping once you know her pat
tern and is certainly a gift carry
ing lasting appreciation. A sharp
change from crested articles or
silver would be the selecting of a
soft, fuzzy, pink teddy-bear or one
of the very newest spotted leo
pards to recline on your bed in
catlike grandeur. Large or small,
these comical, hugable creatures
often satisfy more than anything
practicpl. For girls who collect
them, or vho don't, they offer nn
easy solu' on to your Christmas
shopping.
If these suggestions fail to
satisfy, you will just have to ex
plore downtown. You may run into
me as I feel like taking my own
advice and going shopping for the
Bisters.
