Tucker '94, in which Dr. Tucker tells of his medical career in China during the last 33 years. He predicts that China will eventually win her war with Japan. Unusual is the reprint of an article by Dr. Roscoe Pound, now dean of the Harvard law college, whose story about football in the Hesperian-Nebraskan for Sept. 18, 1900 is included in this month's Alumnus. The regular monthly columns are also featured with emphasis throughout the magazine on plans for the annual homecoming activities. UN Directory Will Come Out On Oct. 27 Nineteen hundred forty-one-forty-two student and faculty di rectory goes on sale Oce. 27, ac cording to the university YMCA, publisher of the directory. The information available in the directory includes the name, col lege and year, home town, Lincoln address, Lincoln telephone num ber, and fraternal affiliation of every student in resident study on the campus. For Cob Party If articles in the "Billboard Magazine," "Down Beat Maga zine," the "National Review" and the opinions of people entertained in various sections of the coun try by Jay McShann have any meaning, the Corn Cob-Tassel par ty featuring Jay McShann and his "20th Century Rhythm" is go ing to be one of the biggest evtfnts of the year. McShann's recordings of "Con fessin' the Blues" and "Swingma tism" have rapidly risen to two of the most popular recordings on the Union's juke box. Nebraska students, when asked their opinions of Jay McShann's music, gave enthusiastic replies. Vic Bradshaw declared: "The Cobs really did something! This bunch can really play. That 25 minute arrangement of 'One O'clock Jump' with trumpet is solid." Bill Pest exclaimed: "They're fine to dance to. Solid boogie woogie and they can play for me anytime." Phyllis Ann Thompson gave a simple, concise statement with plenty of meaning: "I like them!" Quoting Ed Butler: "A drouth in that band. No com there !'' Authorities of nine New Eng land colleges including Harvard, have asked students not to bring automobiles to college this fall as a gasoline conservation measure.
