It seemed like a fairy story when Gus Arnheim asked the Pi Phi trio to come out Saturday for an audition, and it all came true when they sang at the Turnpike Satur day night. The Pi Phis are only hoping they will stay in school and not go, off cross country. Their lucky dates Saturday were Betty Krause and Jim Bell, Beta, Beldora Cochran and Jim Weesner, SAE, and Janet Hemphill and Ed Calhoun, ATO. Almost as Startling. Almost as startling is the fact that Blaine Sloane, ex-president of the barb union, has fallen hard and fast for a certain sorority girl. The sorority girl may be in school this year as a transfer. She was called home from rush week here by an illness in the family and her sorority doesn't know whether or not she will be back. Fi Ji Ray Treinen spent Friday evening trying to persuade Alpha Chi Frances Haberman to take his pin back. He had borrowed it for rush week. Frances does not have his pin and she says there are a few little things besides borrowing the pin which will have to be cleared up. Hattie Costello, Theta, has been seeing an awful lot of Bill Nickel son, senior Phi Psi pledge. They come from the same old home town. In trouble. The Sigma Nus managed to get themselves into trouble again. They had hour dances with the Chi Omegas and Pi Phis Saturday night. Both sororities solemnly promised to be "off the Sig Nus forever if they didn't do something about it. So Friday night the Chi Os sang "White Star of Sigma Nu" and then hissed. Saturday mori) ing they got roses from the fel lows, So Saturday noon they sang the same song without the bias. In case you're wondering, the Sigma Nus hour danced with the Pi Phis Saturday night. It's an old eternal triangle with Sayie Webster, Pi Phi, Bob Mil ler, Phi Gam, and Duke Eberhardt, another Phi Gam. Boh is affec tionately known as "Honey" to his close readers of the sports. The Funniest Things. The funniest things happen. Helene Marcey, Kappa pledge, atul Al Holmes, Sig Ep pledge, are from the same town. Tis said the Kappas don't want to settle down, so he arranged for her to have a date with a man from the Sig Ep house. That man was Al Holmes and the date was Saturday night. Jerry Anderson, Theta pledge, has been stepping with Bud Thompson, Phi Gam, and former boy friend of Kay Hanley. Jean Hazen, Tri Delt, and Duane Wolf, Phi Gam, are going steady in all but name. Eloise Rogers, Kappa pledge, and Buddy King Phi Delt,. pledge, are seeing so much of each other that we won der if it will develope into a steady. Some interesting dates of the week end were: Aline Hosman, Theta, and Al O'Connor, Fi Ji; Hazel Abel, Kappa pledge, and Wayne Southwick, Phi Psi pledge; Maxine Thomas, Theta pledge, and Jim Vanlandingham, ATO; Jo Duree, Chi O, and Lew Lehr, Kap pa Sig, who went to the Turnpike Friday night. Eva Vestal and Clarence Schmadeke, Farm House, won't admit they are going steady, but they do admit that they have seen each other on an average of about eight nights a week all summer and this fall. Marcia Lehmer, Rosa Bouton, and Howard "Bubbles" Martig, Alpha Sig, have been going to gether pretty regularly, maybe something will some of it. Roberta Burgess, Gamma Phi and Dale Brockmeier, Farm House, were seen together Friday while Nancy Coe, of the same Gamma Phi house, and Harold Hansen, of the Farm House went out Satur day. Trouble Again. By the way, Dorothy Black. Chi O pledge, had a date with Kappa Sig Dick Miller Saturday instead of Jim Alexander, Sigma Nu. It was another case of the Sigma Nus having two dates on the same night. At the Delt House. Said Roy: "It doesn't look like a bus; it doesn't look like a trailer or a house or a box car or a piece of green cheese. In fact, it doesn't look like much of anything. There fore it can only be a Jeep." But Roy has made many changes in his '41 model. This year's edition has two bunks in stead of only one. The "Jeep" ia equipped with a tile sink, built in clothes closets and a new exte rior finish. ( Raised Turkeys. '', To make these Improvements some high financing was neces sary. So Roy earned it raisin? turkeys -2,500 of them. Guess what the Sides will have for Thanksgiving? You really ought to examine the "Jeep" someday. You'll never stop marvelling.
