Center Freddie Meier centered the ball to Francis. The Viscount headed back into the line. Then, BOOOM, things began to happen. Francis shoved the ball to his side in crashing the line and Meier took the ball from him and fol lowed Vike in the latter's wake. The result was a first down on the 1-yard line. On the next play, Francis drove thru center for the touchdown. Rohrig added the final point from placement. From then on, the Huskers set tled down to good old defensive play and batted down the many tosses by Jacobs. Shortly before the game ended, Coach Biff Jones inserted his seconds and thirds to finish the battle. In recounting the skirmish, the names of backfield performers Harry Hopp, Vike Francis, Her mie Rohrig, and Butch Luther- stand out above the rest. The line the complete first team front wall was a tower or strength in halting the feared run ning attack of the Oklahomans. From end to end Fred Preston, Royal Kahler, Eddie Schwartz- kopf, Bob Burruss, Warren A if son, Forrest Bohm and Ray Prochaska the whole line, with Alfson in particular, functioned to perfec tion. Oklahoma's vaunted running at tack, headed by Jack Jacobs, Creek Indian triple-threater, failed to run smoothly against the for midable Husker line. The passing failed to materialize because of the alert Husker secondary and fast charging line. Standing out for the Sooner were Jacobs, Marvin Whited, Johnny Mailin and Orville Math ews in the backfield, while Bill Jennings, "Tree-top" Sharpe. Rog er EAson, Harold Lahar and Novel Wood shone in the line play. The least we Husker fans can do now for the champion-playing Cornhuskers is to meet the con querors at the Missouri Pacific station at 1:50 Sunday afternoon.
