Union will show French club film Mayerling to be shown twice tomorrow night "Mayerling," considered by critics the foremost foreign film ever produced and featuring Charles Boyer and Dannielle Dar- rieux, will be shown tomorrow in the Union ballroom at 7 and 8:45 p. m. under the sponsorship of the French club. Until recently film makers failed to recognize the potentialities in herent in the story of Austrian Crown Prince Rudolph's ill-starred love affair with Baroness Mne Vetsera, whose mysterious deaths is the substance of "Mayerling." Based on Claude Anet's "Idyl's End," the film presents Rudolph as a progressive young man, driven to mad debauchery by the rigid opposition to his ideas of the Em peror Franz Joseph, and describes his loveless marriage to Stephanie with Marie. Boyer gives an inspired per formance as Rudolph. Dannielle Darrieux was signed for Ameri can films as a result of her per formance as Marie. Rotton speaks to dentists Dr. W. I. Rotton of the dental college spoke last night on the topic of "Radiography, or Tech nique of Taking X-ray Pictures" before the regular monthly meet ing of the Southwestern Dental district held in Beatrice. FEMININE PULSE An open letter... To graduating law students. In this modern world young lawyers are iaced with the serious problem Of finding clients to renresenr. Clients, in turn, are faced with the serious problem of finding cases to bring to suit. At a casual glance the struggling young lawyer would think that the field of "causes for action" has almost been exhausted; but on the contrary. I call to at tention one outstanding factor wmcn nas long Deen overlooked by both clientele and lawyers. So... Girls who wear glasses. Attention to girls who wear glasses! Do you not realize that you have been impeding the prog ress of those young representatives of justice who have been yearning to uphold somebody's rights? Do you not realize that Dorothy Park er (with all due respect to her tal ent and wit) has created a barrier between you and the masculine at tention you rightly deserve by her dynamic, but misdirected, couplet, "Men seldom makes passes, at girls who wear glasses." Here, by due process of law, could be effected one of the largest damage settlements in the history of the courts. Stop to consider the great number of women who wear glasses, who, for instance, have found it hard to get a date for the Mortar Board party. I attribute their difficulty to the fact that Dorothy Parker has placed a psychological barrier in their way by suggesting in her verse that men shouldn't make passes at girls who wear glasses. You girls who wear glasses should snatch up this opportunity of the perfect lawsuit and make the most of it. Even if you could not change the attitude of those men who prefer to adhere to Miss Parker's sentiments, you could at least collect a sizeable monetary sum which should compensate you for your lack of male "passes." Opportunity Knocks. You young law students, about to graduate, only to enter into a world seemingly devoid of suffi cient lawsuits for each individual lawyer, here is opportunity knock ing on the very door of your pro- fession. It is surely true that you dislike the thought of entering your father's office and becoming a veritable satellite; that you can not drum up a business of your own by chasing ambulances. But here is proffered you a chance to represent approximately one-half of the feminine popula tion of America, if only you can find one girl who wears glasses, at whom men won t make passes. Dorothy Parker has given you, by that one couplet, a great suit. Holly Shurtleff. Gripes (Continued from Page 1.) waiting to say for a long time. Maybe a few ideas will be gleaned from the session that can be used as a basis for investigation by the university administration and the Student Council. If we of the Council know what they (the stu dents) want, it will be much easier for us to give it to tnem if we can possibly do so." Roger Cunningham, Innocents president and Council member, thought that "it might do a lot of good and might also do a lot of harm, depending on the light in which the "gripes" are presented as well as in the way they are taken. "The gripe session is a fine thing if the students take advan tage of it," was the opinion of Brandon Backlund. "The airing of our pet peeves is Just about the best way of getting rid of them in my opinion." Listen to the Eleven O'clock Edition of the Daily Station KFOR Coed claims we're missing men-within dating distance By Holly Shurtleff. Winging their wav into the hearts of those few favored uni versity women who know of their existence and hane-outs. are thns boys from the aeronautical corps or tne united states army. They are earning their wings right here in Lincoln at the Municipal Air port. Here, within "dating" dis tance, are men who have attended various universities over the roun- ary and are now at Muny Airport learning the rudiments of flying for Uncle Sam, and at the same time are in search of old Omar's favorite diversion, "wine, women, ana song." So far only one sororitv has rea lized the possibilities that lay in tne northeast part of town, for that sorority is the only one which has had an hour-dance with the fliers. These boys have numerous at tributes which should be nointprl out. First, and foremost, there is a wealth of fraternity pins in evi dence out air port way. Second, there is great variety of appear ance in those fliers. Some are tall, dark and handsome; others short, fair, and attractive. Third, there are West Point and Annapolis men to be had. Fourth, you may have your choice of a P.B.K. or a Tuxedos Full Dress Suits FOR RENT MILE CLEANERS 2-2772 ENTRY CARD TO 2. - Z . : '; T.N.E., according to your own standards. Fifth, the fliers monthly pay-check comes to about $70 (and dates with that much "sugar" to spend per month are definitely at a premium). Sixth, there is something unde niably fascinating about a man who flies.. Eighth, there is some thing undeniably fascinating about a man who you know will be off to Randolph Field in a few months. Ninth, there is something unde niably fascinating about the thought of him in an Army uni form. Tenth, there is something undeniably fascinating... Why doesn't the majority of girls know and date these eligible young men? Simply because the few who are privileged in their acquaintance are smart enough to keep them to themselves. These boys from the North, South, East, and West are incomparable with their unusual and scientillating wit, their casual demeanor, and their immeasurable capacity for food and drink. After all, there aren't enough of them to go around, so why should the girls who know them cut their own throats by putting them in circulation by introduc tions after all, why did I write this? 223 No. 14 A LADY'S HEART and only .95 When she says "Thank You this Christmas morning will she really mean it?
