Avid cinema fans who read the Hollywood possip columns and wait with interest for the more publicized pictures will find their desires gratified this week-end, for today the local theatres open with several of the season's most highly publicized films. Set against the background of England's Cornwall coast, "Jama ica Inn," the long awaited British production starring Charles Laughton, offers thrills and ro mance to the theatre goer. The film, which opens at the Stuart today, tells the story of the law less days nt the turn of the last century when pirates on both land and sea attacked ships for the eakc of plunder. The picture stars Maureen O'Hara and Robert Newton, a couple determined to bring the wreckers to justice. They appeal to a local squire, Charles Laugh ton, for assistance. It is not until they narrowly escape death at the hands of the wreckers that they discover that Laughton is the sec ret leader of the band. Fans who have complained that the dead end kills have been spoiled by Hollywood and that they have lost their spontencity since their first picture, will admit that the kids are just as good as ever after they see the sextet in their newest picture, "Angels Wash Their Faces," now showing at the Varsity. The film stars Ann Sheri dan and Ronald Regan. Hollywood's best efforts have been poured into the production of "Babes In Arms," now showing at the Nebraska.
