i I tfeJnes&xy, OctoHec M, 1833 The DAILY NEBRASKAN Iowa State works hard for Saturday. . . mm by June Bierbower It's Iowa State Saturday, and nobody around this heah state can think of anything that would be quite so humiliating as a Husker loss to the Cyclones after beating Minnesota. Theres a little matter of an 8-7 defeat of last year that the boys would like to even up, but the Cyclones feel about the game Saturday like the Huskers felt about the Minnesota game, as wit xiess this excerpt from an Iowa State press dispatch: "No lineup changes are con templated by Coach Jim Yeager as he prepares his Iowa State Cyclones for the BIG HOME GAME of the year with the Ne braska Cornhuskers, Saturday. From what we hear the Ames boys are ready to give the Husk ers a surprise party this fall. The uppermost thing in their minds is to make it two in a row over the Huskers and to beat the team that beat Minnesota. Two years ago the Huskers came perilously close to humili ation at Ames after beating Minnesota 14-9. A tired Nebras ka team, suffered a let-down, and before they knew it the Amesmen had scored. Paul Amen's 80 yard end around touchdown tied it up, but it wasn't until the last quarter that Marv Plock ran 75 yards on a punt return to score the winning touchdown. The Husk ers added another one, before the game was over, but there were a lot of weak hearts in Ne braska until after the final whistle blew. Yale lost one of its most rabid devotees and alums as Samuel Hoyt, national president of the AAU died after an auto accident over the week end. Hoyt was state's attorney for Connecticut, and lived in New Haven where he could follow the Eli's to his heart's content. Hoyt, who was here last summer for the AAU track meet, had been a little apprehensive about Yale football chances for the year, but the New Haven boys started out ' all right as they beat Columbia. Hoyt'fl three sons had attended Mercersburg where they were members of the famous Mercers burg prep school swimming teams, and one of them later became a star at Lehigh. We'd like to see what the Huskers could do with their aerial attack now that they seem to have found a running game to go with it. Of course, Iowa State's football team which entertains the Huskers Saturday has lost its stars from last year Including Everett Kischer, Ed Bock, Gordon Reup ke, Paul Morin, George Bazik and Henry Wilder among others. They will be working hard for the Huskers, having had three games under their belt already. They beat Coe, and lost to Denver and Kansas univer sity, but none of those games was as important to them as the game Saturday will be. Martin Boswell, veteran end from Roswell, N. M., is the Cy clone captain this year. The starting lineup against K. U. which may also get the call against Nebraska, included Bos well and Bill Bliss at ends: Ber nard Mickelson and Bob Moody : I 1 IK at tackles; Ernest Mueller and Tom Smith, guards; and Jack West, center. Bill Wallace, Lind say Vinsel, Don Griswold and Merle Osborne were in the back field. Moody won a freshman numeral as a first year center at Nebraska three years ago. Every man on the Cyclone team with the exception of soph omores Mickelson and Wallace is a letterman, with Boswell, West and Bliss the only seniors.
