I'lay will begin today in a men's golf tournament for summer stu dents arranged by Dill Horncy, director of the men's summer ath letic nroexam. Names of all stu dents who have signed up in the Student Union office have been nlaced on a progressive tourna ment chart, copies of which are being mailed to contestants. Matches may be played on any irolf course in the city and each player is being mailed one free ticket good for 18 holes at Pio neers on any day except Satur days, Sundays, and holidays. WOMEN OPEN SOFTBALL TOURNEY TUESDAY NIGHT Live Wires, Do-Its Defeat TNT's, Zephyrs in First Game of Series. With the score standlne 7-6 against them after the second inning, the Live Wires, women's Softball team, rallied to defeat their opponents, the TNT's, to a final tally of 30-9 in the first game of the tournament Tuesday night. In the same round the Do-lts won, 21-10, over the Zopnyr nine. Outstanding on the Live Wire team was Edna Shcve. who bacirod two home runs and a triple ' out of four times at bat. Bernice Moore, captain, played a good" game thruout, both at bat and as pitcher. Johnson and Ebers were outstanding players for the TNT's. Vlcek, pitching for the Do-lts, and Babbit, at first base, turned in creditable plays for their team, with Dennis doing some excep tional hitting and tickling tor me Zephyrs. Tonight the Do-lts meet the Live Wires at 5:00 for the second game of the tournament, with the TNT's playing the Zephyrs at 6:30. UNIVERSITY ASKS GRANT FROM PWA STARTS FRIDAY Cool, Comfortable. To be erected at the north end of Memorial stadium adjacent to the new. athletic fields now Hear ing completion, a new athletic service building will be. started late this summer if Washington au thorities approve a PWA grant for the structure recently filed by the university. The huildine will provide com plete training quarters, equipment storage facilities, locker rooms, showers, team rooms, and class rooms for the maior sports. The building will also include a small field house, 90 by iza reel wim feet headroom, without posts and with a dirt floor where practice for the outdoor sports may be held in inclement weatner. A tunnel will connect the pro- nnsed buildinsr with the indoor track beneath the east stadium, but locker rooms in the south ana north ends of the east tiers will h nhAndnned in favor of the new and more adequate quarters. CORRECTION An article appearing in the June 14 issue of the Nebraskan contained the statement that "tests of the new inttc rated physics-chemistry course de vised by Prof. P. G. Johnson, now of Cornell, have indicated definitely that the combined course is as efficient as either of the specialized sciences." It should be noted that the actual work cf integrating the two courses was done by Prof. Harold E. Wise, of the Teachers; ecliege high school, under the direction of Dr. G. W. Roenlof.
