Beginning at 4:4!. the "Splash party" will last until 5:45. This first joint swim is spon sored by the Student Union recre ation committee in co-operation with the mens' and women's phy sical education departments. Mrs. Jean Danielson of the physical ed ucation department, and Howard Koeneke will life guard during the party. Women are instructed to bring their caps and bathing shoes with ten cents to pay for towel and suit. Men will bring their own suits and towels. Golfers have begun play at Pio neers park. Free tickets for the first play may be obtained at the Student Union, with free instruc tion Monday, Tuesday and Friday back of the Lincoln Muny pool. Both men's and womens' tourna ments will be scheduled later. Horseshoe games are in prog ress daily at 6:30 in the lot next to the Teachers college. Equipment may be obtained at the check stand in the Student Union. Regular swimming hours for women in the coliseum pool have been set from 4 to 5, Mo'nday thru Friday and from 1:30 to 3:00 on Saturdays. Men's hours are from 12 to 2 and 5 to 6, Monday thru Friday and 3:3 Oto 6 Saturday aft ernoons. Health permits must be obtained in Pharmacy hall before students will be allowed to enter the pool. GEOGRAPHY GROUP PLANS FIELD TRIP FOR WEEK END SOFTBALL TEAMS FlfflED Officials to Form League if Enough Men Appear. League play will be started if enough men's soft ball teams can be made up, according to recrea tion officials. Games are scheduled nightly at 6.30 Monday thru Fri day on the diamonds south of Teachers college. It is hoped to have at least four teams, possibly representing den tal college, graduate students, un dergraduates, and students from out of the state. Men interested in participating should report at game time, or they may sign up at the Union building giving their status in regard to team under such a scheme. GIRLS TAG E SECOND SOFTBALL 110 T Excursion to Take Students Into Southeastern Part of Nebraska, Iowa. This weekend the geography de partment is sponsoring a two day field trip which will take its mem bers thru a large portion of south eastern Nebraska and into a corner of Iowa. This trip is planned as an adjunct to the regular geography courses. On Friday the group will go to Syracuse, where they will spend the morning looking over the soil conservation work of the govern ment in that area. During the aft ernoon they will travel eastward by way of Nebraska City to Coun cil Bluffs, studying soil conditions and formations. Saturday will be spent in Omaha, where the stu dents will have the opportunity of studying urban geography and its effect on the development of the city. Tonight's Meet Preludes Tournament to Begin Next Tuesday. Girls' softball teams will play off their second series of practice games tonight, getting into shape for the tournament which starts next Tuesday, June 28. Four teams have been organized and afe be ginning to show much promise, states Miss Ruth Diamond, head of the physical education depart ment of the University of Omaha, who is in charge of women's base ball. Pauline Bowen is assisting in tne direction. Practices are held each Tues day and Thursday evening. From 5 to 6 o'clock the Do-Its, with Lo- nne Bentzlnger, meet the TNT's, under Alice Johnson. At 6:30 the Live Wires, with Bernice Moore as captain, play the Zephyrs, under Leota Dennis. Four Complete Teams. Dein will leave the services of the university to at tend the University of Minnesota next year where he will complete course work for his Ph. D. degree in economics. Dein has completed eight years of teaching in the col lege of business administration where he taught courses in begin ning accounting and principles of economics. He is teaching both sessions of the summer school this year. Marian DmwYavy Named lu ltirniiti;1iati Position Marian Lucille Dunlevy who ma jored in anthropology under Dr. E. H. Bell and who received her M. A. degree here in 1035, has re cently been appointed supervisor of the Birmingham central arch aeological laboratories at Birming ham. Following her work here she taught school a year at Omaha and just now has completed a pe riod of advanced work at the Uni versity of Chicago. 'DEALERS DISPLAY NEW TEXT BOOKS IN STUDENT UNION Between now and July 2, teach ers attending the summer session will have an opportunity to look over the latest in textbooks and equipment, displayed in the south east basement room of the Student Union. The exhibit is the tenth in its series, and is held each sum mer in conjunction with the sum mer school. This year's exhibit is believed to be the largest ever to be displayed on the campus. Thirty-seven ex hibitors, representing the leading book dealers of the United States, are showing new texts.
