Mr. Schmidt's choice of numbers was fortunate. Each seemed to b? well suited to his temperament. Tho first two, arrangements of GlucU's "Melodic" and "Caprice," were especially well executed. In those, there is a delicacy and ex actness required which the artist achieved without difficulty. In Bach's Italian Concerto which followed, technical execu tion was equally efficient. But whatever else Bach's music may be. it is most certainty melodious; and this was conspicuously dis regarded in many places by tha pianist. The high spot in the program came in the "Largo" of Chopin's B minor Sonata which seemed to enjoy a rather thoro understand ing by the artist. KOSMET WORKERS.
