This was to eliminate those who
posed as rushees but who had no
intention of joining and enjoyed
entertainment and free meals at
the expense of the fraternities. In
1934 there were a total of 1200
rush cards filed, while only 367
new pledges were secured. In 1935
when the one dollar fee was re
quired, only 463 cards were filed
and 348 rushees were secured.
The Alumni Interfraternity
Board of Control was organized
two years ago, when several fra
ternities were low financially.
They sought aid from Dean
Thompson, who called a meeting
of alumni representatives of each
fraternity. After many months of
study and discussion the Board of
Regents was requested to create
the Board of Control, further giv
ing it broad powers to cope with
the situation.

Harley Wymore, superinten

office, issued a warning to stu
dents who send their laundry
via parcel post that any corres
pondence enclosed in such pack
ages automatically makes this
mail first class, subject to first
class rates.
Violations of this rule are sub
ject to a warning for the first
offense and a $100 fine on the
second. It is permissible, how
ever, to include magazines,
newspapers, and other printed
matter in the laundry packages,
the line being drawn at personal
correspondence.
Two Yale university research
workers have determined the ex
act atomic weight of an atom of
sulphur to be 31.9818.

1122. He took his Ph.D. in chem
istry from Princeton, which was
followed by a year's study in
Paris and Berlin. He returned to
Princeton as research associate on

A Birmingham Southern profes
sor recently sent the translation
of a long and difficult Arabic
work to his New York editor. A
few daya later he got a request
to do it over. The publisher had
lost the original.
