Pianists Will Be
Heard in
Grand Ensemble
Climaxing the piano tourna
ment, sponsored by the Ne
braska Music Teachers asso
ciation as a part of their 13th
annual convention, 200 pian
ists, assisted by over S00 cho
ral members, will take part in
the carnival Saturday evening.
Included in the groups of pi
anists that will be heard are
the following: Fifty children,
fifty junior high school pu
pils; thirty-six senior high
school students; twenty boys
and young men; thirty adult
professionals; and thirty-six
accompanists. Each group will
play the compositions as out
lined on the program. Num
bers of marked rhythm will be
presented. Pianists from the
following cities will be heard
in ensemble: Columbus, Crete,
Beatrice, Lincoln, Omaha, Wa
hoo, Nebraska City, Platts
mouth, Fairbury, Pawnee City,
Talmage, Lorton, A 1 v o, Ne
hawka, Albion, Sargent, Shu
bert, Stella. Seward, Roca.
Hallam, Sprague, Waverly and
Alexandria. Seventy-two pian
os will be played at once by
the above groups.

nival will be Leo Kucinskt.
The carnival, which will be
held in the coliseum beginning
at 8 p. m., is the first state
wide affair to be presented
jointly with a state-wide Mu
sic Tournament.

Scene of Unusual
Muscat Event
Inquiries have been received
from every county in the state
concerning the piano carnival
Saturday evening, and approx
imately 5,000 people are ex
pected to attend. The plan of
seating resembles that of the
ancient Roman arenas, the au
dience to be seated in the bal
cony and in bleacher looking
to the center of the coliseum
floor, where thirty-six pianos
and the choral group will be
stationed. It is believed by
music teacher a' that such
massed piano productions will
help Immensely in bringing
the piano back as an instru
ment of wide popularity
among students. At one point
in the program 72 young pi
anists, two to each instru
ment, will be playing at once,
with 144 hands moving over
the keys in unison thru the
measures of Mozart's Minuet
from the Symphony in E flat.
The selection, "Greetings to
Spring," is expected to be one
of the most varied numbers
on the program.
