THIS AFTERNOON
Preliminaries ot Drake Meet
Scneduled for 1:30 Today;
Finals Tomorrow.
This afternoon at 1:30 o'clock
:he preliminaries of the Drake re
lays at Des Moines will be held
Rith fourteen Nebraskans taking
part. The finals of the meet in
ahich about 1.000 athletes are tak
ing part will be held tomorrow
afternoon at the same hour.
The Husker track and field men
who are competing are Frank
Booth. Heye Lambertus, Jerry Lee,
and Clem Lamereaux, sprinters
and relay men; John Roby. relays,
pole vault, and broad jump; Glenn
Skewes, pol vault and discus;
Everett Mead, shot-put: Don Gray,
broad jump and high jump; Ray
Toman, high jump; Howard Rob
erts, relays; Jim Story, mile run
and the distance medley may;
Glenn Funk, distance medley re
lay; Adolph Dohrman, 120 yard
high hurdles; and Glenn Jones,
javelin thrower. This group left
this morning at 5:45 from the
coliseum, and during its two days
stay in Des Moines will stay at
the Hotel Chamberlain.
To Enter Quartets.
Coach Schulte is entering relay
quartets in three of the seven re
lay events, the 440 and 880 yard,
and distance medley being listed as
the baton races in which the Husk
ers will try their prowess. The
team for the 440 and 880 events
will probably be made up of Clem
Lamereaux, Jerry Lee, John Roby,
and Neye Lambertus. The dis
tance medley foursome is Jerry
Lee, 440; Howard Roberts. 880;
Glenn Funk, mile; and Jim
Story, mile.
Coach Schulte plans to make in
dividual entries in the 100 yard
dash. 120 yard high hurdles, 2
mile, high jump, broad jump, pole
vault, shot-put, discus, and the
javelin, the other special events
on the program are the hop, step,
and jump; and the hammer throw.
In the 100 yard dash Heye Lam
bertus, Jerry Lee, and possibly
Clem Lamereaux will compete,
and in the 120 yard high hurdles
Lambertus and Dohrmann are en
tries. Jim Story may run the 2
mile, Ray Toman will high jump,
Don Gray and John Roby will en
ter the broad jump, and Husker
entries in the pole vault are Glenn
Skewes and John Roby. In the
weight events Everett Mead will
put the shot, Glenn Jones is a
javelin entry, and Glenn Skewes
will toss the discus.
Having competed in the Kansas
relays last Saturday afternoon,
the Huskers will be competing in
their second relay carnival of the
year at Des Moines.
Three Nebraskans who are es
pecially favored to place in their
events are Heye Lambertus,
Adolph Dohrman, and above all.
Don Gray. Gray took first place
in the broad jump at Kansas with
a leap of 24 feet 4l inches, and
has a chance to set up a new rec
ord at Drake, the present mark
being 24 S inches.

Phvsical Education association
was conferred there Wednesday
evening upon Miss Mable Lee,
chairman of the department of
physical education for women In

in the field of physical education.
