The annual banquet, in honor of
the faculty, will be given by
Sigma Gamma Epsiion, profes
sional geological fraternity at the
Lincoln hotel Friday night. Leon
Ashton will be toastmaster and the
speaker will be Prof. E. F.
Schramm and Prof. E. H. Barbour.

SCHOOL SUSPENDS VACATION
'Depression Week-End' Used
As Substitute for
Usual Holiday.
Chapel Hill, N. C When au
thorities at the University of
North Carolina suspended the cus
tomary spring holidays on account
of the recent bank holiday, they
substituted a "depression week
end" to keep spirits up. Checks
were accepted for Saturday and
Sunday picture shows, a free
dance was attended by over 2.000
students, the baseball regulars and
yannigans staged an exhibition
game, the student union enter
tained at a tea, and "a good time
was had by all."
