The drawings below are plans of
the University of Nebraska's swim
ing pool which will be constructed
at a cost not to exceed $35,000 tin
der the coliseum stage. Health fees
will be Increased from $ 1 to $2 to
pay for the tank. The top drawing
shows floor plans of the swimming
pool and also th e, matron's room,
women's dressing room and sup-

soon, as ordered by the board of
regents at their Friday meeting.
The men will use this present
locker and shower room.
The lower, drawing represents
a cross section view of the pro
posed pool. Davis & Wilson are
architects. The deepest point In the
tank will be ten feet, the shallow
level four feet. The basin, it is es
timated, will contain 135,000 gal
lons and will change water every
eight hours. A modern filtering
plant will be installed. The side
walls and floor are of white tile
and the ceiling will be constructed
of acoustic board to deaden the
sound. .The pool will be about
twenty feet below '.he first floor
while the women's locker room
and supply room are located ap
proximately twelve feet below the
first floor. Actual work on the
basin is expected to begin the last
of July, the bids to be awarded
next week. The pool will be 35 by
75 feet in dimension. The water
line will be nine inches from the
floor. Three spring boards will be
provided. The black lines in the
pool, shown in the upper picture,
are the black tile markings sbow-i
ing the seven water lanes.

MEETS THIS MONTH
New County Unit Plan to Be
Studied at Institute
Starting July 27.
The sixth Social Work Institute
will be held at the University of
Nebraska, July 27 to Aug. 8, un
der the direction of Miss Lillian
Johnson, director of the children's
aid service of Omaha, according to
an announcement today by Dr.
Hattie Plum Williams, professor
of sociology.
Study this year will deal pri
marily with the new county unit
plan for public welfare as autho
rized by the legislature this year
under S. F. 46 which becomes ef
fective July 1. The law will be
explained in detail, with special
emphasis on the way in which it
can be made to function in the
various counties in order to take
care of the delinquent, defective
and dependent people.
"In order that each county may
avail itself of the opportunities re
cently made possible by the new
measure, organizations Interested
in the new plan for social welfare
work should see that they are
represented by at least one mem
ber at the institute," declared Dr.
Williams. "Such persons should
be selected who would, if appoint
ed, be able to act on the county
welfare board when organized."
Miss Johnson, former director
of the state bureau of child wel
fare, is a graduate of the Univer
sity of Minnesota and received her
case work training in the family

the time of her appointment by
Governor Weaver as director of
the bureau of child welfare she
was doing graduate work at the
University of Chicago.
In addition to the county unit
plan, the various phases of social
case work will be studied during
the two week period. The special
course, which was attended by 27
persons last summer, may be tak
en with our without college credit.
The class will meet from 10 to 12.
o'clock each morning and from 8
to 9 in the evenings. Registra
tions are being . mailed to Dr.
Hattie Plum Williams at the Uni
versity of Nebraska.

it is possible to rig up the most
inane, most idiotic and thoroly dis
gusting reports imaginable. They
